Akl value room views?

I'm particularly interested in this information. We are AKV owners and want to stay in Jambo House this coming Christmas. We want either a pool view or savanna view. Can someone confirm this for me, that in order to get a pool view, we would book a standard view room, and if we want savanna view, we would book savanna view? I'd appreciate. The value category is throwing me off.... Thanks!

If you book Standard in Jambo, you will get a pool view. If you want to take your chances and get either pool, savannah or parking lot and don't mind having a smaller villa, book value. The point difference could make the chance view attractive. I've booked "value" 5 or 6 times, and have gotten pool view twice, savannah view the rest of the time. I really like saving the points and I find that Jambo has lots of convenient places to see the animals. Plus, none of these have been for 6 night stays. For a 6 night stay, I would probably book savannah or standard. I would hate to have THAT be the time that I get parking lot view.

Thanks so much for the explanation. We're trying to decide between a 1 BR standard view and studio savanna view. My sister is pushing for the savanna view since we're staying at AKL. If it was just she and I and her daughter (5 at the time we travel), I'd agree. But our mom might be along, so 3 adults plus a small child seems like a lot to cram into a studio. That said, I know DVC has spoiled me. I'm also kind of considering Kidani because of the second bathroom in the 1 BRs, but I feel like the pull to be under one roof by staying in Jambo is stronger than the second bathroom. Don't know, though... I always wish we could stay in the main building at WL, so I don't want to miss out by staying at Kidani. I know they have pros and cons, so I just need to decide what matters most. The separate tub at Kidani is also a plus, but I hear the jacuzzi tubs at Jambo are good, too. Decisions, decisions! Feel free to weigh in with opinions!

You know what I just kept the Points went with the Value and Booked a few extra Days at Bay Lake Tower.....If I get the parking lot view so be it...it will still be "close to the action" ie Pool, Mara, Gift Shop........If I get a Savannah or Pool view i will be happily surprised.

Well you have a good attitude I'm not changing either. We booked the value to save points. I am thinking of switching my request to pool view. We had the sunset savannah view last trip (booked savannah view) and really didn't see much.

All of the Value rooms are close to the lobby. Here is a Jambo House room map. The Value rooms are located on the Giraffe and Ostrich trails that run along the front of the resort on either side of the lobby.

It was created by the owner of that website. She posted here quite some time ago that she was going to do a map for the 6th floor (Concierge level) of Jambo House but it isn't on the site yet. I haven't seen any maps like that for Kidani. She has a similar map for BCV.

Sunset Savannah view: 5110, 5116, 5130, 5136

All 2-bedrooms at Jambo House are lock-offs so the 2-bedroom should have the same room number as the 1-bedroom.

The Jambo House room map has all of the room numbers on it. You can see exactly where they are relative to the lobby, pool area, etc. The Value rooms are on the Ostrich and Giraffe trails at the front of the resort.

I'm SOO looking forward to our 2 bedroom value. It will be our first DVC trip.

Although, like evryone, I'd prefer a savanah view, I'm much more interested in the "minor upgrade" in accomodations from our All Star Music room last trip. (note sarcasm). Plus it will be nice to actually see where all my extra money has gone.

This is great information! We just saw the new 2011 point chart and think 29 points per night is too good to pass up! 2 bedroom value in October! woo hoo

I was never really interested in a lock off or combined tub/shower, but for 29 points I can be! Now that I know the view can pretty good too is another plus!

Thanks I just looked them up and once again I am not too happy with the reallocation of points. I looked back in one of my old books and in the Magic Season, OKW a 2 bedroom for a week nite has gone from 30 back in 2003 to 40 now. Does not make me happy. That leaves you one less day and still paying 10 points more.

I just want to add that I just called MS to request (and I know that request are no gurantee) a savanna view...he told me that there are no one bedroom values that have savanna views...and that the pool views are not really pool view...the PV are really off to the side in the distance and you would have to stick your body off the ledge of the balcony to see the pool (which he wouldn't advise)...that 99.9% of the rooms were parking lot rooms...so I guess I just got my first set of incorrect information from a CM @ MS...ummm great...SHOULD I CALL BACK LATER TO ADD MY REQUEST???

Did you ever wind up adding your request? Whether or not the CM thinks you'll see the view you want, it doesn't hurt to request it!
