AKL Transportation

Can anyone give me their experiences with AKL transportation? We're very much looking forward to going but I'm slightly hesitant about the transportation. We are taking on all parks (MK for 3 days) and are not going to rush and be there all day, we're going to enjoy the resort a lot too

While it's a little further to the parks (except AK of course), we have not found it to be any more hassle than any of the other resorts. I believe it may be because (as I learned here and never realized) they don't stop at the other resorts in route.
A lot of course just depends upon your timing. If you miss a bus, you will probably have to wait 15-20 minutes so its seems like a long time. If you get lucky, the wait is short and away you go.
You are smart to make sure to take time to enjoy all AKL has to offer, because its such an outstanding property IMO.
Also, try Jiko and let the kids stay at Simbas cubhouse while you're there. Its less than 50 yds away and you get a beeper. (try the bar-b-q filet w? mac n cheese)

We have stayed there three times (most recently in March 2008). The bus service is fine. As the previous poster said, the drive to all the parks except AK is somewhat long, but that is balanced by the fact that the buses do not stop at any other resort. The buses come with acceptable frequency. Our most recent was not adversely impacted in any way by lengthy or unusual waits for buses (either to or from the resort).

We only stayed once but the buses were fine -- a little shorter wait than we've experienced at other resorts, but a little longer drive.

Don't be hesitant. I was, but not after staying there. I timed it and the travel time to Epcot and DHS consistently averaged 12 minutes. That was January - perhaps when it is busier you should add a minute or two.

The one time we went to the MK, we went to EPCOT first so I can't say how long that ride was.

When we stayed at AKL our longest wait for a bus was under 15 minutes. I also liked the dedicated buses to AKL. We were there in early June so busy but not peak time.

We have never had issues with the bus transportation at AKL.

We just got back from the AKL. I guess our experience was very different from others, but we found the bus service to be the worst we have experienced at a Disney resort. The most unbelievable thing was the length of wait for a bus to and from the Animal Kingdom park (you would think that would be no more than a twenty - thirty minute wait easy, but no). Many people who were waiting with us were also commenting on how bad the transportation was. We witnessed buses from many resorts multiple times before ours would come and unlike other resorts who would have a CM at the bus stops in the morning, there was never one to be found during the 9 days we were there. As you can see, we have stayed at many Disney resorts and have never had trouble with transportation, but this is one of the reasons we would never consider AKL again.

We just returned (May 2-9) from AKL and we were impressed with the bus services the entire week. Even my husband commented that he was glad we didn't rent a car and used Disney transportation ( hubby can be hard to please ). So I would definitely stay at AKL again in a heartbeat.

We just returned from a 10 day stay 4/20-4/30 spring break time. We found the bus service to be outstanding. The longest we waited was 25min. and that was for a bus from DTD back to AKL. There are no other stops and because the AKL is on the Osceola Pkwy it is basically a straight shot to all the parks. The longest ride is to the MK and that took about 15min. We thought the buses ROCKED!
