AKL Tour

I remember reading on this board about a tour at AK that sounded interesting. I didn't save the information thinking I would be at WDW until August. But, we were able to plan a quick trip over President's weekend and would like more info about the tour.
As I recall, the group meets at the front of the park. The cost is $45 and involves a leisurely ride in an air-conditioned vehicle through the savannah. I don't remember if this was only for AKL concierge guests or not.
I called WDW-TOUR this am and was given info about the "Wild by Design" tour and the Backstage tour, which has limited animal viewing.
If anyone knows anything about this other tour, I would appreciate hearing about it.

The tour you are talking about sounds like the AKL concierge tour, although I have not taken it. The park safari ride trucks have no air conditioning. I have taken both "wild by Design" and "backstage Safari" and neither include a savannah safari. To my knowledge there are no other AK tours open to non AKL guests.

You are referring to the Wildlife Discovery Excursion....offered to Concierge Level Disney Resort Guests (except AKL). It does have it's own special air conditioned van, and it spends aproximately one hour on the savanna. The group meets in front of Mombasa's in Harambe Village.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, we are not staying in a concierge room this trip. Even the regular rooms at AKL were too expensive during President's week. But I'll keep this in mind for the future because it sounds like a great tour.
