AKL to GF

I am staying at AKL but going to a conference at GF -I have to be there at 7AM! I spoke with someone at Disney who told me there is a back way out of AKL that leads to Grand Floridian Way. Has anyone used this road? I am just afraid it will turn out to be one of those cast member/bus roads that you can't get down.

Also I am booked for a standard room -hoping for an upgrade -what is the best way to put in a room request? I know you can't ask for a upgrade in advance but I would like a good room. Are there any standard rooms better than others?

That is a back road that is not accessible to the public (and most CM's) you have to have clearance to go that way (or at least you did last time I went down that way.)

There is a back road that many CM's use, it's not for the public. Different one than what Liberty Belle is referring to though I think.

Yeah the CM backroad is the one that cuts out to 192 by AKL (and that is open to anyone if you know where to go)... the one that cuts over to Grand Floridian Way actually cuts through Backstage AK and by the tree farm and places that require access because they are backstage (or at least they did require access), it comes out by the Hess Station at the MK parking lot.

Thank you for the info -decided to stay at Grand Floridian the night before the conference. I splurged for the $260 group rate. I guess it is worth it to not have to get up quite so early but it is $140 more than my AKL AP rate. At least I will have a full day to enjoy GF -will be checking in in the morning. I leave tomorrow -oops I guess it would be today now! I better be getting to bed!
