AKL SV and Standard view

I was wondering if anyone knew if they have SV and Standard views that are arcross the hall or very close to eachother. We are going to try and book 2 2BR at the 7 month mark. We have some friends coming with us and I really don't want to book 2 SV r/t the number of points I would need to use but I want the rooms close together so the kids can go back and forth with min. supervision. They are all over 8 years old. How would I request the rooms and what building would be the best and closest to the theme pool?

This map shows the location of the different booking categories. The Standard View rooms are in the area marked in yellow. Value rooms are marked in lime green, Concierge is marked in pink, Grand Villas are marked with orange and everything else is Savanna View. There are two areas where there are Standard View and Savanna View rooms right across the hallway from each other. I would think that when you book the two rooms you could just ask MS to request that the rooms be as close to each other as possible.

You mentioned wanting to be close to the pool - all of the Standard View rooms are pool view!

There are 82 2BR lockoffs in Jambo House. Some of them are rented out as 2BRs and the rest are "locked off" and rented out as 1BRs and lockoff Studios. I have no idea how many are rented as 2BRs.

What is booking AKV at the 7 month mark like (for a November trip)? Day-to-day or do it all at once?

There are no dedicated 2BRs in Jambo House, only lockoffs. There will be dedicated 2BRs in Kidani Village.

Lisa, you are so well informed!

(I am hoping a little strategically-placed flattery will earn me an answer to my next question)...

We have a 2BR SV booked for next month. Are there any sections, floors, wings, rooms, etc. that you recommend that I request? Or is it even too late for that?

Which floor to request is easy: you won't have a choice! The villas are on the 5th and 6th floors of the Lodge building and the 6th floor is Concierge so you will be on the 5th floor. I've stayed on the Sunset Savanna and the Arusha Savanna (pre-AKV). I think Arusha is the prettier of the two. I don't know what the Uzima Savanna is like. The main reason to avoid the Sunset Savanna at the moment is because many of those rooms look directly at the Kidani Village construction but since at least 1/4 of AKV's rooms are located there, a large number of guests will end up on the Sunset Savanna despite any requests they may make.

Another request some people make is to be closer to the lobby or further out along the horseshoe. Again, that is a personal preference. DH and I like being further out but others prefer to avoid the long walk and would rather stay closer to the lobby, pool and restaurants.

Just keep in mind that a request is just a request, not a guarantee. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful trip!

Construction aside, the Sunset Savanna has LOTS of animals, and with it being reduced in size right now (due to construction), they are easily seen much of the time. There are 3 male giraffes on that savanna, as well as ankoli cattle, ostrich, herons, Zebra and red river hogs.
