AKL Studio value odds in December with points

New DVC resale owner that has closed but waiting for member number in mail. CM would not give it over the phone. Visiting DW 12/2/13-12/8/13, my wish is a studio at AKL Jambo House (Value), otherwise I will do the value resort with free DP. Not sure if AKL will have availbilty by the time I get my member number, any ideas on my odds?

That is one of the top 2 most popular weeks for DVC. Those value room were gone on Jan. 2 (11 month booking window).

Much of the year the AKV value studios are hard to get, but that first week of December is probably the most difficult and may require walking the reservation.

I would guess the only possibility of getting a room on points for that time of year this year would be at SSR and my guess is even there you may not be able to get a studio- you might be looking at a 1 bedroom. So I would guess that you may as well book the value resort.

Thanks to everyone who responded. That was my 1st post. I'm still trying see where to go to place the ticker, DW trips. I actually bought at SSR but I'll get to AKL one day. I'm still trying to decide if I want to pay to fly or to the drice from New Orleans. Once again, thanks.

Since you may not be able to use your points for your December, if you have 2013 points, make sure you think about when you plan to use them so you can bank them, if needed. DVC has been sending e-mail banking reminders to members for about a year, but since you are new to the system, you may not get one for the 2013 UY.

Pretty unlikely to get any studio for your dates.
Best to go with your original plan of resort & FD.
As others have stated, you need to call right at your 7 month mark to try to get value rooms, and be very flexible with your dates.
You'll learn the ropes and busy times soon.
(By the way, we use WDW for Walt Disney World. DW usually is dear wife. On the disboards most realationships are preceded with d for dear--DS dear son, DD dear daughter, etc.)

You should be able to get both standard and savannah views most of the year at akv. If you bought at SSR to stay mainly in AKV value villas for many trips or trips longer than a couple of days you may want to rethink your plans as many times of the year they are not available at 7 months, people buy AKV to be able to book these rooms.

December is very popular and is usually booked up quickly. As already mentioned, values are difficult to get most times of the year, even at 11 months.

Once you get in the system, it doesn't hurt to check but its highly unlikely you will find those rooms.

On a side note, I had to delete several posts as we have asked that availability not be checked and shared as it does no good if someone is not ready to book.

A room open today could be gone tomorrow and the same is true the other way around--rooms showing nothing today could actual be open tomorrow.

I booked that exact time frame one day past the 11 month window (1 bedroom standard at Kidani). One day was missing, had to waitlist. It did come through but it was months later....
