AKL studio CL?

Well, we just signed papers today and bought some resale points to stick our toe into the DVC pool.

I saw on the points chart that AKL has an option for a studio conceirge level. Is this true, because I can't find it when I play with Disney reservations? I can only find 1 bedroom suites not studios (and that is a LOT of points for a 1 BR.)

Is the CL studio in Jambo?

Is it a regular styled room or is it the 1 bed 1 couch bed set up?

Thanks
Looking forward to the new vacation options!

Congrats and Welcome Home!

Yes, there are concierge DVC rooms. They are all at Jambo house on the 6th floor on the perimeter of the lobby. There are 5 studios and 5 1BR units, so very limited inventory.

The studios do have the typical DVC setup with a bed and a sleeper sofa.

AKL has 5 2-bedroom lockoff units, each one able to break down into a 1-bedroom and a studio, in Jambo House only. The studios have the queen size bed with the full size pullout couch. 3 have savanna views and 2 have pool. 2 out of the 3 savanna views have a handicap bathrooms in the 1-bedroom part.

thanks

I read something about the basic conceirge room being a standard room (2 beds) and thought that might be what they use for the studio CL.

Anyone stayed at the studio CL?
Thoughts?

Basic concierge at AKL is nothing like a CL studio at AKV. You get one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa, plus the kitchenette. All the concierge AKV villas are on the sixth floor. DVC took these rooms as part of the conversion to AKV (they took all the fifth floor and the sixth floor). Since the Concierge Lounge is located on the sixth floor, these rooms had to be concierge level. They are the only concierge villas available.

so if you have a CL DVC Villa, do you get use of the lounge, breakfast etc, concierge services....all the 'perks'?

Plus you get a daily full cleaning and turn down service included with your points stay.

congrats, & welcome home!

if you were playing with Disney reservations on the main WDW site, you may very well not see the DVC CL villas on the 6th floor. AKL also has CL rooms on the 4th floor - these are not DVC Villas, but they have access to the 6th floor Lounge. in other words, the CL Lounge is for all DVC Villas on the 6th floor, and also for CL guests on 4th floor.
as previously mentioned, the entire 6th floor of Jambo is five 2-bdrm lock-off Villas, each consisting of a studio and a 1-bdrm. they can be booked as a 2-bdrm, a 1-bdrm, or a studio.

AKL CL Villas can be very hard to get, because of the limited availabilty and relatively few points to upgrade from a regular Savannah View room. we stayed CL on the 6th floor last week, and AKV is not our home resort. we happened to luck out and were able to book three nights in a CL studio about six months in advance. :cool1: this is not typical, as many AKV owners call eleven months out and find no availability. just goes to show, you never know until you try. :)

Now that I have read about the difficulty in getting CL and the chance of not getting a savannah view (who would ever think that CL doesn't necessarily mean savannah view????), I think we are going to just get the SV studio instead. If I am there, I really want to enjoy the animals. I'm not concerned about getting a muffin in the morning and maid service for only a 5 day trip (I like sleeping in most days and sometimes skip the maid service anyway). I also don't really need any help with reservations and probably won't do the safari tour.

Maybe one day I will have a few extra points and decide to try it for a couple nights just for the experience, but the animals are more important to me.

Thanks for the info though. After 35 Disney trips, I'm finding that I have a new world of info to learn!

btw, thanks for all the Welcome homes!! (givin me that DVC feelin' already and the final paperwork isn't even here yet).

AKL Studio Savannah View has seldom been a problem for us to book even just a few months out. once we got it two weeks out!
we are flexible. we live close by, but we never book Friday or Saturday nights. we don't go at really high occupancy times like Christmas or Easter weeks. we do go at high DVC times, such as early December and early January, but still got AKV & BCV, our two favorites. AKL has opened up even more now that Kidani is all Villas.
enjoy your membership. there are a lot of details to DVC, but your general knowledge of WDW will help you, too. :goodvibes
