AKL story time?

When and where do they do the stories for the kids?

Last time I stayed at AKL the Storytelling was at Arusha Firepit: at 6:30pm If they have bad weather it is moved indoors to the Sunset Lounge.

What is the age range of kids at AKL stoiry time ? Good for teenage kids ?

Is this mostly for children? Would adults enjoy it also? Even without kids?

YES! Go and enjoy! I sat/stood near the back while DS listened in the front, but we both enjoyed the story. The CM who told the story was an excellent story teller! We still quote part of the story to each other!

Grownups enjoy it, too - we have gone twice (and both times heard the same story! Glad to hear they tell different ones, too.) Both storytellers were South Africans - one a white woman and one a black woman. Both did an excellent job. It can be a little hypnotic rocking, staring into the fire and listening to talented storyteller. I'd like to do it again!

Good to know that this is for adults also. We were hoping to do this our first night there.

This is just one of the really great things the lodge offers. My kids pleaded to do the programs and Mickey Hunt and as a result, we did not leave the resort fo two days. The kids earned all the beads and completed their totems. Even did the tracings on the bronze floor plates!

Our story teller was a black woman who told a story with a lesson about good values. Back home she manages a tourist safari lodge. We got to talk with her at length and she was missing her family, but was really happy to be able to have the experience working at AKL and seeing some of the states.

What an atmosphere!
