AKL - Should I?

DH & I are going to the World on 9/13-9/19. We drive and usually arrive the evening before and stay off site. Last vacation we arrived a day earlier and called ahead and got a room for ASpts that night for rack rate. We only called like 4 hours ahead and it was the only value available. I had wanted to try POP.

My birthday falls this year on 9/12 which got me to thinking. I have always wanted to try AKL but didn't want to commit for a full week. I e-mailed my TA and she was able to get a savannah room view for $274.50. No standards were available but I would prefer the savannah. So here are my two questions to all you AKL experts:

1. Is this a good resort to celebrate my birthday at ; and
2. Is the price good? I think it is.

That's the standard price for a savanna view room but no matter, I say go for it. It's your birthday, all the more reason to celebrate! We absolutely loved it when we stayed there last year, we had a savanna view room too and it was totally worth it. We would do it all over again for sure. Go for it - you only live once!

I'd say go for it, you only get one bday a year. I think it's a pretty good price too. Oh, have a great bday while there. I hope to celebrate mine while we are there too.

The normal value season rate on AKL savannah room is $290. The rate you are quoted is about 15% off of the normal rate with tax. My family and I are staying at AKL for the first time in August and I am really looking forward to it. If you have the extra funds and want to celebrate your birthday in style, I'd say go for it!

We are staying at the AKL CL (got a 40% off code) for my b-day in Oct. I needed to arrive a day earlier because of the morning savanah thing that is only available to CL guests so I thought, OK its my b-day I am going to do it..the rate is $350! I did book it because the regular rate I am paying is so cheap....and I am hoping for a AP or FL discount on that one night but I have to wait that one out.

Looks as though you're saving about $50 off the rack rate.
I absolutely LOVE AKL and think you will be so glad you stayed there. It will be a WONDERFUL place to celebrate your birthday Make sure to explore the resort, have a drink in the lounge, sit by the pool, chat with the cultural representatives out on Arusha Rock...it will be wonderful

It's a great room even if it wasn't your b-day. But since it is, i'd splurge and go for it. You will absolutely love it. It's an awesome resort and you can devote an entire day to just exploring it and doing tons of activities they have daily.

That's a much cheaper rate than I was quoted!! GO FOR IT!!!

Make sure to have your TA indicate on the reservation that it is your birthday. They sometimes do something special.
