AKL room views

Hello, we are going in May and have never been to AKL bfore except for dinner at Boma and Jiko. My question, is it worth it to pay for the savannah view? We are currently booked standard. Its myself, DW, and DS (age 6) so we will be spending some time each afternoon back at the hotel. Opinions please!

I think it's so worth it to pay the extra for the savannah view, just to have that special experience. And especially if you have a young child.

If you don't, AKL is still a wonderful, amazing resort, and there are plenty of areas and opportunity to see animals. But at least once, it's nice to have that savannah right outside your balcony. We stayed on a low floor, 3rd, which is lobby level, and it was just right...higher up wouldn't have put us practically nose to nose with the giraffes and zebras!

I think one of the only views to pay for is the Savannah View at AKL! I don't even like animals that much but loved the view here.

The Savannah View is the only reason I'd stay at AKL. It's worth every single penny, esp. if you know you're going to spend time at the resort. I don't pay extra for views anywhere else, but Savannah is a MUST for us at AKL.

By All Means A Savannah View. It Is So Neat Late At Night To Get Out Of Bed, Go Out On The Balcony And Take In The Quiet Of The Savannah. Many Times There Will Be No Animals, But Just Keep Watching And Then Seemingly Out Of Nowhere The Animals Start Appearing As If They Were Ghosts. The Savannah Is Lit By What The AKL Calls Moonlight. We Have Had Ankole Cattle Sleeping All Night Outside Our Balcony. Also, It's Great To Have Breakfast On The Balcony. I Believe There Was A New Baby Giraffe Born 11/05.

If you can afford a Savannah View, then go for it. It is so quiet and peaceful looking out on the savannah at night!!

The savannah view is awesome. It totally exceeded my expectations.

If you can afford it, I would upgrade your view. If you cannot, I wouldn't worry too much, because you see animals on almost every walk to your room, and the viewing areas are gorgeous. It is such a beautiful resort.

The pool at AKL is incredible!! But, the savannah view is so worth it.

Do the Savannah! Oh it is soooo worth the experience! It's so awesome to sit and relax on your balcony watching the African wildlife, not to mention the peacefulness...

I had a Standard booked hoping for an upgrade .....well it didnt happen. View was AWFUL. So I went back to thre desk and upgraded to Pool view......IT WAS AWSOME....Just sitting on the PAtio with the hustle and Bustle of the beautiful pool was well worth it....GO POOL ITS CHEAPER BUT AWSOME

If you are anything like my DH you won't regret the paying for the change to savanaha view. He just loves sitting out on the deck in the early morning or late evening watching the animals and I am sure your son will be thrilled with the ever changing view of animals that are there each time you enter your room.

We're staying at AKL for the first time at the beginning of June and I also debated whether or not to book the savannah view. I had a pool view room booked, but after talking to a friend of mine who had stayed at AKL she convinced me to change to savannah view so I did! Plus, our DS6 knows that there are rooms at AKL from which you can see animals and if we had a standard or pool view room I know he'd be disappointed in not being able to see animals from the room because we do spend a lot of time at the resort. Yes, there are public viewing areas but it's not the same as seeing animals from your room (according to my friend).

We paid for the savannah view. Got upgraded to the deluxe savannah view. I dont know what the deal was though...we only ever saw a couple of water buffalo and a bird or two.
