I have reserved an AKL standard view room for 2/1 - 2/4 at the magnificent AP rate of $121.54 including tax.....

What will I be looking at? I skimmed the AKL thread and it says standard view rooms overlook the parking lot. However when I view a map, it appears that all rooms have some kind of view - unless they name the parking lots  .

If you have stayed in a standard view room, what was your view and what was the room number?

You'll love AKL regardless of the view. I don't have any room numbers for you, but there are definitely rooms that overlook the parking areas. I believe the standard rooms on ostrich and giraffe trails would overlook the valet parking area and the walkway over towards the bus stop. Opposite views from those same trails (can't remember which side is which) would be sunset savannah for one of the them(??) and pool for the other (I THINK!).

There are plenty of places to view the animals and even though I LOVED the savannah view, I'd stay there without it if the price were right!!! Have a great time.

I agree! We have a savannah room booked and even with the CTH code, the price doesn't campare to your great AP rate! You can enjoy the animals from many vantage points - and enjoy the big savings as well. Congrats!

We booked an standard rate for August and when we arrived we had been upgraded to a pool view.. WHich for us was no biggy as we didn't have any of the kids with us that time.
As far as view, the whole resort is beautiful. If you want to see animals it' s just as simple as walking the hallways and you can look out the windows. I would say there is no bad views there. Just MHO

Thanks. Dh and I toured the resort when we went to Boma. He pointed out that we were able to sit in the various outlooks and see animals all over the place. However, I printed out the resort map and I'm certain I will have it memorized by Feb 1st.

Maybe I will get one of those surprise upgrades!

We had 3 standard view rooms this past May. I can't recall the room numbers right now but they were lobby level {3rd floor} on the Ostrich Trail. Our balconies faced the handicap parking but there was so much foliage we really couldn't see any cars. It was great. Very quiet. We'd stay there again. They are pretty generous with the complimentary upgrades though so maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones. Have a great trip. AKL is just the best!

We just returned and had room 3115. It was a looby floor room. We looked out over the entrance (where everyone drives up at) and a partial view of the parking lot. It was beautiful room. It did have connecting doors and was a bunkbed room. It was quiet, and with the enclosed patio, when you sat down, you couldn't see much over it. It also was accented with lovely palm trees and shrubs. Definately worth staying there at least once no matter what the view.

We booked standard view on each of our 2 stays at AKL and ended up with upgrades both times. On our first visit, we were told we had been upgraded to a savannah view! We were thrilled! We didn't ask for it, they just gave it to us.

On our second visit, we were upgraded to a pool view. When I asked how much more I would have to pay to get the savanah view, I was told only $10.00 extra per night! We took it!

This is not something they do all the time. We were just really lucky to be there at the right time! I wish you lots of luck too!

I got a free waterview upgrade during our first stay at CSR a few years ago and it was fabulous. We loved it so much that we returned, but unfortunately we got stuck with a parking lot view. It was a real downer for me. I vowed next time I would politely ask if something else was available. However, my DH says if I want to guarantee myself a good view I should book it from the beginning!

Anyway, I will keep my fingers crossed. I don't need a giraffe on my balcony...I just don't want to be looking at a dumpster!

Can't wait!
