Thanks for all the nice comments, I am glad you enjoyed it. I am so envious of all of you who have booked a trip to go there and of those who can call AKL "home"!
Thank-you so much for your wonderful report!! It is so detailed and your descriptions of the people and sights just make me anticipate our upcoming trip even more!!
I loved your suggestion to go on the culinary tour on the day we will be going to Boma - what a great idea - I would not have thought of that.
We will be there in just a few weeks!
Thanks again!
Hope you have a great time there in September! I would especially recommend the culinary tour to anyone a bit unsure about the food at Boma as you have the chance to talk to a chef about what some of these unfamiliar foods are.
Thank you so much for your excellent review- on our next trip I was planning on staying at the Wilderness Lodge again- but your pictures and review are making me start to lean in the AKL direction!
I have only visited WL for a meal, but I think those two hotels have a lot in common in the sense that they totally imerse you in their respective theme. I think they were actually done by the same architect. Actually the only other Deluxe hotel that appeals to me is WL

I just can encourage you to try AKL, it is very special!
Can't you put the wine in your checked luggage? Beautiful pictures!!!
Thanks! And to your question: yes, you are allowed to put the wine in your checked luggage, but I really would not want to take the risk of getting back a soaking wet suitcase with all my clothes now being red from that broken bottle of wine!

Great pix! Surprised to hear they have decaffeinated diet coke at AKL. We were going to have it delivered by one of the local grocers b/c we haven't seen it at any of the resorts we've stayed at. Didn't know they had it at AKL. Was it a fountain drink at Mara, or was it in cans/bottles? TIA
I was surprised to see it, too. It was a fountain drink and I usually got it with my erfillable mug. Of couse, this was in February, things may have changed by now. I would recommend to you to ask whether it still is available at this thread:

There are allways people around who just have recently returned from AKL, so they would hopefully be able to give you an updated answer!
By the way, the Mexico CS restaurant in Epcot has it, too!
