We currently have ressies at the AKL CL for a week in March 2008.

After reading posts I am concerned about the construction noise. Also, I read that the CL rooms are not on the 5th and 6th floors because of the villas. The are now on the 4th floor near the lobby?? Did they move the lounge too? Also, the DVC villa room can use the lounge, too?

This is our 1st stay at the AKL....I am wondering if I should switch resorts. We go to WDW each year so I could book AKL for next March.

Any advice is appreciated~

Hi there:goodvibes

We were just at AKL a few days ago. While we did not stay in a CL room, we did stay in a savannah view and did alot of exploring the hotel.

First and foremost, there was ABSOLUTELY NO construction noise. We were at the hotel during various parts of the day and heard nothing at all. The only noise we heard was the lovely african music, CM playing drums, and just normal hustle and bustle of the lobby. We stayed on the Zebra Trail and it was very peaceful.

The only construction we saw was at the Sunset Savannah-this is where the new villas are being built. It looks like it's going to be fabulous when the construction is completed, but right now, it's definately an eye sore for those staying in that specific savannah.

We noticed the CL lounge on either the 4th or 5th floor (can't remember which-but both are certainly great views of the savannahs and of the lobby. Lobby is located on the 3rd floor. We saw several rooms on the 4th and 5th floor labeled "DVC" mixed in with several unlabeled doors (which I am assuming is CL) if this helps.

Also, this post includes a map that might help you:

I think you'll be fine, unless you are in the Sunset Savannah. You might consider giving them a call to be sure-we found the CM were very honest and helpful there.

We found the AKL to be such a memorable and amazing experience! It was like having your own special theme park, minus the crowds. Waking up to these animals was definately a once in a lifetime opportunity. The lobby was breathtaking, beautiful surroundings, peaceful yet festive atmosphere, great food, comfy rooms, and CM who go out of their way to make you feel at home. If you do decide to skip it this year, I would definately keep it on your list for next year.

Thank you for your help! I am going to keep the ressies at the AKL CL.
