AKL question .... I leave in 3 weeks

Is there any room request that I should ask for when I make my call?

It is my understanding that they (AKL) dont get your reservations until 5 days prior to your arrival.... do they set your room up then or do they wait until check in...

Anything I should begin to think about with regards to AKL

A lot of people are saying that you should go to the parks that do not have extended hours because the crowds will be less at the other parks because everyone is taking advantage of the extra hours. Anyone have any feedback on this????

The one major problem with AKL is once you arrive, you won't even want to go to the parks! It is such a wonderful resort checking out all the animals, huge pool, great restaurants, everything! We had a pool view on the 3rd fl in zebra trail - this was on the same floor as the lobby so was convenient to everything. Loved this location and loved the view of the gorgeous pool. Be sure to try Boma even if the menu doesn't seem appealing - the food is not unusual there at all - great meats, seafood, salads, prime rib, and the best desserts of all (zebra domes!). We even ate at the food court all the time because the selection there was so good. Also, if you're at the resort enough, be sure to get the refillable mugs for $11.95 - they have a self serve beverage island in the food court which even includes lemonade, homemade iced tea, coffee, sodas, etc.

And, we found the parks to be crowded any day of the week, no matter if it was early entry or not. Always go for the fast passes and you'll be fine. Have fun! Sharon

I am bumping this up. We arrive at AKL on March 17th! We have a savannah view room reserved, but I am also wondering about requests for certain rooms, floors, etc. I would like to be close to the food court and bus stops. Any help would be great!

Last year we stayed at AKL for 3 nights... everyday we would come back to the hotel for a swim in the afternoon... NEVER made it back to the parks in the evenings!

We were on the 2nd floor (I think it was 2 - one floor below the lobby) and it was great - the animals were SO close... my daughter even complained because a giraffe was looking in the room when she was changing.
