AKL question--Help!

My sons (12 and 14) and I have ressies to stay at WL in July. We stayed there last year and loved every minute of it.
I am now considering switching to AKL, but I have some concerns, including the distance form the theme parks, esp. Magic Kingdom. I also would miss having the immediate access to the water sports.
I guess my question is what are the positives to AKL, and is the transportation/distance thing a real problem?
Any input will be appreciated.

We stayed at AKL this summer and thought it was great.We took the buses every where we went and had no problem getting where we needed to be.The only problem we found with the buses seemed to be at night on return trips, it seemed like we waited a long time for the bus and usually they were standing room only.The resort was terriffic we had a great time and enjoyed the animals, the pool and the restaurants.

It really doesn't take much longer to get anywhere from AKL. AKL doesn't share busses with any other resort, so you go directly to each park instead of having to stop.

I place a high value on the proximity of the parks. So, naturally, I had the same concerns about staying at the AKL. AKL is very close to the AK, but that's about it. I personally wouldn't stay their an entire trip for that reason alone. But that is just me.

Other than that, the resort is unbelievable. Great food, great pool, great accomodations, oh yeah, and wildlife right outside your balcony. Would you consider splitting your stay? We stayed there 3 nights and we hit AK a couple of days while we were there. Then we moved to the Poly and hit the other parks. It was great and Disney made switching parks easy.
