AKL Pool View Rooms

DD and I are booked in a pool view room for our upcoming trip. Any suggestions on what to request?

Upper floor?
Specific room block?
General location?
View?

I can't seem to tell anything from looking at the maps. I did read somewhere that the pool view rooms tend to be noisy. And my friend told me that some of the rooms have balconies that block the view if you sit down on the chairs there. So I'm wondering what to request for a quiet room where we can still actually view the pool area.

We had a pool view room on 4th floor Zebra Trail. We were in 2nd ( or first?) pod of rooms and had a nice view. But there are many trees around the pool, and you could end up with trees blocking your view. Our room was 4420.

We didn't find the room noisy. We didn't hear any noise with balcony closed. I didn't notice any balconies at AKL pool view that were solid and you couldn't see out sitting down. We did have that type balcony at WL on the upper floor.

Thank you--that's helpful! I think when my friend stayed there, they might have had a corner room? She said it was very odd--they asked to be moved and got a different room where they were able to see.

Your welcome. We really enjoyed AKL. The halls have big windows looking out at the savanna. And there are lots of look outs around the resort.
The Mara CS has great food. Flat breads were very good, and at dinner they have usually 2 specials that are also served at Boma. Excellent.

We check in at AKL also pool view on Jan 2. I will have three teen agers with us. Will they like Mara's food? I'm afraid that BOMA would be a waste of money for five adults when they would probably eat chicken tenders and fries!

We loved Mara and found it to be quite good with a variety of options.

We love Boma but are more adventurous eaters! But we also loved Mara, a big selection of food. As I mentioned the flat breads are really good, and the daily specials are excellent. I had the salmon and daughter had the ribs, they were both fantastic. You can also get regular food like burgers, chicken, etc. I think it's a better then average CS.

We stayed at AKL on our first visit to WDW. Mara was great. They had a great variety for a CS. I liked it better than POR choices. I remember they had other options other than hamburgers and nuggets. After a while you get tired of the same hamburger all the time

We liked Mara. The flatbread was good, the salad with lentils, and they also have hummus and soups from Boma. I was able to get the butternut squash soup in the CS area. As others have said, they also have traditional CS foods, but enough variety that you have other options too. My only complaint is I don't like the look/feel of the CS area.

We've also had the stew, roast chicken, chicken pita, and roast beef at the carving station. All very good. They also have the usual burgers, and chicken nuggets too.
We stayed there 12 nights. And at least 6 nights had dinner there and found enough of a variety. The daily specials were different each night.

Hubby and I loved the food at Sanaa, and almost any Indian food. It's just so expensive to eat there on a regular basis. If I could just get like a small portion of butter chicken and a bread service I'd be a happy girl! Our girls will not eat Indian food, so knowing that there are some ethnic foods avaiulable along with burgers, grilled chicken, salads, etc is great.

Boma is great, plenty of perfectly "Normal" food in addition to all the yummy more adventurous options
The Mara has plenty of options as well. We never end up eating there every day or night, there are so many dining choices in the Parks, DTD and all the other Resorts, go exploring

This is our first AKL stay but by no means our first WDW stay, we all have favorite places both in the parks and at resorts. thanks for the encouragement though!

I didn't realize that any of the pool view rooms were DVC villas.

I keep searching for images to help me and I can't find anything! You know, like those maps that Robo posts for everything? That's what I need.

I looked on the old original Google Earth site yesterday and when the hotel came up I kind of got an idea where the pool view rooms are located, based on the pools location they seem pretty centrally located to the lobby area.

I have been trying to find a map with the pool view rooms pointed out for months now lol.
Every other resort I have stayed at I was able to find the catergories of rooms on maps.
I also have a pool view room booked... hoping its a good location close to lobby/buses/mara. I dont ask for much lol

we've had pool views once, at BWV's and yes, it was noisey. Not sure if we'll do that again.
