You don't hear much about these, but I'm thinking about reserving one for our Sept. trip. We had a Savannah view last time, but I don't think we really have to have one for this trip, as we're trying to save a bit of money. However, I really don't want to end up with a parking lot view, because we do enjoy relaxing on our balcony. I was thinking a pool view might be a good compromise.

Does anyone have any reviews, pictures, etc. of the pool view rooms? Should I request anything specific? Any thoughts?

We had a pool view this last July. They upgraded us to a deluxe pool view at no extra charge, which we thought was awfully nice. I absolutely LOVED the pool view. It was close to everything. It was probably a total of 3 or 4 minute walk to our room from the front of the hotel. It was very close to the Mara, Boma, and Jiko. I would have loved to have booked pool view again for this Christmas, but the family over ruled me and insisted on Savannah.

Here was our view:

Our 3rd floor pool view room smelled of chlorine whenever we opened the sliding doors. It was also very noisy out on the balcony. While we enjoyed being close to the lobby, etc, I won't be picking pool view again.

Now I'm worried we arrive July 6 with a Deluxe Pool View. I have problems breathing around chemicals. I even have problems doing laundry except with unscented products. I was also hoping for a quiet room as we like to nap in the afternoons.

This was mine in 2004 (4th floor Zebra Trail 4428)

I believe all of the deluxe rooms are on the 5th and 6th floor. We were on the 5th floor last July. We never smelled anything except for the wonderful scents from the restaurants. We also didn't have a problem with noise. We could hear the people at the pool when we opened the balcony doors, but it wasn't really loud or anything. When the doors were shut, you couldn't hear anything from outside.

Ditto, but 2 weeks ago! Booked Pool View and got Deluxe pool view. We had only stayed Savannah before, but enjoyed the change. No noise in the room at ALL. Here was our view from the 5th floor:

That said, I am not one that would want a first floor poolview room. I would think that would be loud and their would not be much view.

We are in a Deluxe so I guess we'll be on the 5th floor. Really wanted Savannah but this was all that was available. Can't wait to get there.
