We just returned from a great trip on 9/7. We arrived on 8/30 around 1am and checked into a Standard room at the AKL. Saturday we woke up to a sick child and had to make a trip to the emergency care center. When we returned from the doctor we moved to a Deluxe Savanna View room. We requested a non-smoking room and when we walked in, it was obvious that someone had smoked in it previously. We requested to be moved ...and were - with no problem. Our third room was nice and clean. We stayed at the AKL until Monday. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff was extremly helpful. However, I dont think we will stay here again.....Our room was FAR away from the lobby & I really felt a little closed in. It is a beautiful hotel, but just not for us.

Monday, we moved to a Conc. lagoon view room at the Polynesian. We were in room 1511 with a GREAT view of Cinderellas Castle. What can I say ......it felt like our vacation started when we got here! It was so nice not to have to walk 1/2 mile to get to everything! We self parked, but they picked us up in the parking lot and drove us to our room. After we got settled in, the Concerige staff checked us in. They gave my son a sand bucket and shovel - which he throughly enjoyed (he always likes the little things the best!). I did smell a slight musty smell in our room (like a basement) but nothing that was really bothersome. We ate at Ohana & Kona Cafe - We enjoyed them both and will eat at both again. I also celebrated my 34th birthday while we were there. We returned that afternoon to find a birthday cake and balloons from the conc. staff. This was a really nice surprise! The staff in the lounge and the desk were all very nice and helpful. It seemed Saturday arrived way to fast & it was time to go.....We will be back!!!

We were at AKL the same weekend!!!!

We checked in on friday around 4pm and were upgraded to deluxe pool view. We were on the fifth floor right above the lobby. We were right by the suspension bridge and right by the elevators. Everything was very convenient from that location. We had good bus service and really loved the pool area. I know the savannah rooms seemed remote and I don't know if I would want one of those rooms. The resort is remote enough without feeling even more remote once you reach your room. We had a great view of the whole pool area and all the action that was going on. Being right above the lobby was nice, too.
