Hey everyone, I had a reservation booked for WL in August but called today and got a decent rate (I think?? 150 per night) at AKL looking at the Pool. Im not sure if I should switch back to WL or stay at AKL, I've never stayed at either. Only POFQ in past. I was just wondering what the veterans have to say about the rate and which resort is better suited for people in their mid 20's. Thank you :) Happy Cinco De Mayo :earboy2:

We will be just checking into WL for the first time in just 14 days, so I can't offer much help there, but I LOVE AKL. I wouldn't want to overlook the pool though because it could get quite loud. Then again, that would depend on time of day.

As far as which resort is better depends on what you want probably, what your interests are. I love the animals of AKL, the peacefulness, and the themeing. We have kids, and they loved it too.

Sorry I'm not much help. I'm sure someone else will be. I just thought I'd give you what I could of an opinion. The rate sounds OK to me. Enjoy.

We had that same debate in our house as well. Finally decided the we would spend 2 nights at AKL and the remainder of our trip at WL. Can't wait!

On our last trip we stayed at the WL and liked it very much. We never stayed at AKL but we did visit it and we both agreed we wouldnt want to stay there. We just didnt care for it,but alot of people seem to love it. I guess I really aint much help. I would recommend splitting your stay between the two if you were into it. If not go with the WL. Just a boat trip away from the Magic Kingdom.

i have a ressi at WL in august and we debated over the same topic. it all came down to theming AND the fact that the WL is close to the Magic kingdom which is our favorite park. The Amimal kindgdom seemed far from everything too. Our rate at WL is 169/standard through AAA. How did you get the 150 rate?Do you have an annual pass or are you a FL resident. i thought those 2 resorts have the same rates???? I think on our next visit we may actually try AK.

Thanks everyone for the replies. disneyobessed I do have an Annual Pass. Ugh this is a tough one, most of you seem to be leaning towards WL. Hmmm...Any more help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone

good luck with your decision. im sure youve seen plenty of pics. of both resorts if not go to www.allearsnet.com its got a lot of pics of both resorts which may help with oyr decision.. the WL has a ferry that goes to the contemporary and fort wilderness campground too if you planned on doing any dinner shows or character dinners at either one. again good luck and maby we'll see you at the WL . just look for a family of four decked out in red sox gear! (AUG 12-AUG 17)

I would stay at the WL hands down! We have stayed there two times and absolutley loved it! Our first visit we were upgraded to an inner courtyard view. We were high enough that we could even see the fireworks from our balcony! The second visit we were upgraded to an outer courtyard view. It was very peaceful to sit and watch the ducks in the pool in the morning.

On our last stay we went and visited AKL. We were so disappointed! The theme is similiar, but it didn't have the same feeling. We went outside and there were no animals insight! We spend a lot of time at MK, and decided to bus ride from AKL to MK would be so much longer, that it wouldn't be in our best interest to stay there. Plus, you would miss out on the water parade at night!

Our third visit will be this December and we are once again staying at WL! I can't wait to see the decorations!

As you know, August is a very hot month. WL is lakefront plus lots of trees.
Mentally much cooler. AKL is just to sunny!

I have stayed at both, and if it were another month (like Oct for example), I would suggest staying at either, but August is just too hot!

My vote goes to the WL!! The only thing that I really like better at the AKL is the lobby. The WL lobby is awesome too, but the bridge and firepit at the AKL give it the nod for me. I prefer the WL in most other areas. Actually, I like the room themeing better at AKL too. Either place will make you happy though. They are my 2 favorites!!

Hmmm. I think I'll throw in a vote for AKL! Both resorts are very similar to me although the die hard WL fans might not think so. There have been some good points made regarding temps. August is very hot here in FL! We have been to AKL at various times of the year and it can be miserable walking around outside there. However, we were at WL in Nov so I can't really compare.

You'll have to decide which is more important of the proximity to MK, boat transportation, fireworks and EWP viewing, theming or price (I do think WL seems more suited for colder months for some reason). Also, don't forget to take into consideration the restaurants. See which menus you like better then stay and eat there! We love Boma and Jiko but Artist's Point was very nice too.

I guess I haven't been of any real help after all! LOL We did have the most comfortable bed at AKL, a really good night's sleep (it's also very dark with the drapes closed) and the lounge is better at AKL, IMO. I would love a pool view room next time! Have fun deciding.

I'm 23 and I have only stayed at AKL not WL, but I did visit the WL on my last trip. I was glad I picked AKL the themeing of WL did not appeal to me as much as the theming of AKL did. Also the bus service from AKL was very good no waits longer than 10 mintues for a bus. When we left WL after exploring to head to DTD we had stop at GF and TTC to pick people up before going to DTD (it seemed to add a lot of time on to the trip).
