AKL or WL???

OK, I am going on a short trip so we decided splurge and book a deluxe. We went to the WCC and fell in love with WL, but hear great reviews on AKL as well. Since both resorts have the same rates, Do you prefer AKL or WL?

We personally prefer AKL. Both resorts are BEAUTIFUL and we did LOVE WL but I think the animals outside our balcony (we were in a standard room - I think it was the giraffe feeding area?) did it for us. The animals also entertained my 2yr old son for quite a while when we were in our room. That's always a plus!

I have stayed in both. They are both wonderful.

Since it's a short trip, I think it depends on what you plan on doing. If you're spending most of your time at MK, then I'd stay at WL. If most of your time will be at AK, then AKL. If Epcot/MGM, well then both resorts are about the same distance, so it doesn't matter.

The resorts are similar in design with different themeing. The activies they offer is what separates them from each other. If you like outdoor things, then WL is perfect for you. If you prefer the wildlife, then definetly AKL. You get an extreme amount of activities which are offered for each uniquely themed resort.

We are AKL fans and we plan on doing a split AKL/WL stay in 2008 so we can compare the resorts for ourselves first-hand.

We've stayed at both and I think all of us preferred WL.

Both were beautiful (love the lobby in both) but we just didn't get "into" the animals as much as I expected we would.

Been to both, and our family fell totally in love with AKL. It is just spectacular, and Boma has the BEST food!

Stayed at both but I'm just a tiny bit more partial to the WL. It is so peaceful and relaxing. I liked the animals at AK but WL just really felt like home to me.

But only stayed at the WL. To us the animals don't even come into play. We could go to th Zoo and see animals and the African theme doesn't do it for us like the WL theme does. Just our opinion.

I love AKL. IMHO, Boma has the best food. WL is a great resort, as well, but the animals seal the deal for my DW and I.

I've only eaten at WL, but from what I can tell, in essentials the resorts are the same. The difference is just in theme and location, and everyone has a different opinion on those matters as it comes down to personal taste. I don't think you can go wrong with either resort.

IIRC, both resorts were designed by the same architect (they're quite similar in being somewhat dark and not exactly "delicate" in decor ). We happen to like both, but we're not MK folks, so AKL (now AKV for us) is the one we prefer. It seems more of a "theme-park-in-itself" than WL, plus Jiko's and Boma are our favorite WDW restaurants.
As others have posted, a lot depends on which theme park appeals to you the most, MK or AK.

For me I would Pick AKL bacuase I just don't really care too much for the theme of WL. BUT... If you already like the theme I would stay there since you can take the boat to MK.
AKL has great bus transportation and does not share it's bus with any other resort so that is also a plus.
We LOVE Boma and Jiko at AKL and we love the pool theme.

If you are not sure you will like the theme and you already know you like the WL theme I think I would stay there if it were me.
I would love it if AKL had some different forms of transportation other than the busses!!!! You get sick of just riding the busses everywhere. At least I do.
