AKL or WL for honeymoon stay???

We will be honeymooning over the 4th of July...

We just can't decide if we want to stay the the Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge..

Any advice?

My boyfriend and I split our last stay between WL and AKL. We did AKL first and then went to WL. We personally were upset that we didn't chose AKL for the entire trip. It was so amazing and beautiful, everything was fresh and new and the pool was awesome. The CM's were so friendly and helpful and our room had a perfect view of all of the animals. WL just didn't hold the same excitement for us, it was very nice but we felt it didn't hold a candle to AKL. No matter what you choose you can't go wrong! Have a great time

Well, my fiancee and I are honeymooning at AKL this August and we did stay at WL two years ago. We would go back to WL in a heartbeat, but I do like to try different resorts. Since I have yet to stay at AKL, I can only give you my opinion on WL...The lodge itself is absolutely gorgeous and very romantic and secluded. We loved the convient boat launch to MK and Fort Wilderness, renting boats on bay lake, biking to Fort Wilderness, hanging out on a nice little beach where no one bothered us, and seeing the Electric Water Pageant at night. There definetly is a lot to do at WL as far as activities go, and I know my fiancee is going to miss having all of that recreation (especially the boats) at his fingertips, but hopefully the animals will make up for it! The pool at WL was fun, but a bit on the small side, so we would go in during off hours to avoid the crowds. In the hot afternoons we put our chairs in lake at the beach, which was just as nice. But with that, I am still excited to try AKL--I have heard so many good reviews on both of these resorts. I know you will be pleased with either one. Let us know what you decide!!!!!! oops! I just noticed your signature and see that you have already stayed at WL..I'm sorry if I gave you info that you may not have needed. So if you don't want to repeat resorts, try AKL!

ok heres something to think about......just to confuse you more

the wl and the akl are both places you will love to take children too. perhaps you should think abut a different resort that you arent likeley to stay at again once you go with children.

They're both very nice. Tough decision. We have stayed at both and I think that AKL had the best transportation. They don't share busses with any other resorts.

We will be staying at AKL and the GF for our honeymoon next June and the reason we picked AKL (aside from the fact that I love the resort!!) was that we wanted to go on the sunrise safari. Since we stayed in regular savannah view rooms this past NYE, we couldn't do the safari, so we'll be staying concierge for our honeymoon just to do the safari. I also love WL (though I've never stayed there, just ate and visited) and would have liked to split the trip between AKL and WL, but fiancé loves the GF so there was no talking him out of that one. If you're staying long enough, maybe you can split the stay, that way you get to stay at both.

I have never stayed at WL but I can tell you that AKL is WONDERFUL!!!! It's our new favorite hotel and honestly, I don't think we will ever stay anywhere else!!! Congrats on your marriage and upcoming honeymoon

we'll be honeymooning at WL in May and chose it because when I've visited there for the day before it always seems more peaceful, especially with its own little beach I love the idea of being so near the MK and the castle, seeing the EWP etc

I've always noticed more children at AKL when I've been there, so that was a consideration for us too!

I've only stayed at the AKL, but I must say I can't imagine a resort being more romantic than this. My fiancee and I especially loved snuggling on the balcony in the morning as the giraffes walked past. We'll be going back here again for our next trip.

Hubby and I Honeymooned at BC and WL.
We have stayed at the WL twice since and tried the AKL for the first time this last Sept.

Both resorts have charm and both are magical. If you are not opposed to spliting your stay between the two that is my first recomendation. We love resort hopping, getting a fresh perspective half-way through the trip, & trying two resorts.
Otherwise you should decide which location works for your needs better. Are you planning on Disney Transportation or Renting a car? Is the MK your favorite park? Do you really want to see fireworks from your resort? Do you have your heart set on watching animals off your balcony...animals larger than chipmunks?

We staying in a Honeymoon Suite at the WL on our Honeymoon and liked it so much we treated ourselves and returned a couple of trips later. This link shows some pics of that room. As I understand it, the HM Suites are now concierge level at WL, when we stayed they were not.

You will have a wonderful trip no matter where you stay!
