For the upcoming winter promo, I can get an AKL standard room for the same price as a studio at OKW or Saratoga Springs. We have not stayed at any of the three resorts. I have two kids ages 15 and 11. They both like the animals but there are no savannah view rooms under the promo when we will be there. Also not sure about paying the extra for that view. We always book standard view. We are park commandos and usually just swim once or twice at the resort. Any pros or cons to AKL, OKW or SS?

Thanks.:santa:

AKL standard room should have two queen sized beds. The studios at OKW would also have two queen sized beds, plus a microwave, toaster, undercounter refrigerator (larger than the one in the AKL room), and a nice sized bathroom. The studio at SSR will have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa, plus the same ammenities that OKW has except for a smaller bathroom.

All are nice resorts. PP has detailed the studio amenities nicely. Another plus to OKW and SS is their proximity to Downtown Disney via boat or walking. However, you note your kids enjoy seeing animals. Even if you don't have a savannah view room, it will be much easier to see the animals from various viewing spots throughout the resort. Neither OKW or SS have that. Also, you have a chance of being upgraded to a savannah view as I have heard this happening to others who have stayed at AKL.

I think you need to determine which aspect is most important to you and make your decision based on that. Have fun deciding!

Keep in mind that OKW and SS have a "much different feel" to them than AKL. AKL has a central, massive lobby with things located in that area. It has all indoor corridors, etc. OKW and SS have "units" with the studios, etc. located in the different buildings. They are large and you can be in a bldg quite a ways away from the "center" of the resort. We visited SS this past trip and it really didn't have the same "feel" for me as the AKL, BC/YC, BW, WL type of resorts. Lots of folks really like it but for us we prefer the "resort" feeling we got from the others. I have heard though that the rooms at OKW are much larger than most ... so if space is important that might be a consideration.

OKW also has larger patios with a table and chairs. The laundry facilities are free to guests. The little kitchenette has a toaster, coffee maker and microwave.

Enjoy your vacation.
