AKL or BLT for add-on confused....

So bought 160 at BLT Sept use year....want to go through Disney for an ad-on vs resale...looking at another 160 pts. We will always go in Oct. for F&W. (46 days till our first BLT visit) Would love to buy BWI or BC but need to finance for a few months 'till bonus comes in - no flames please...Have thought it through and given where we are right now financing is the right thing to do..'cause planning an extended family vacation in June '10 - need a 2 bdrm otherwise just two of us...Incentives at AKL are better now...just worried of getting 2 bdrm at BLT at 7 month for this june...The fam really wants to be on the monorail. We would love AKL for consierge - even just once- to do the sunrise Safari. And we've love it...the time we've stayed there thought it was awesome - thought don't like having to drive everywhere. So my financial head is saying AKL given incentives but the part of me that wants ease of booking says BLT....
Any suggestions?

We faced a similar decision. In my mind, it was Concierge vs MK view as the "trade-off", assuming it would be very, very difficult to get either at the 7 month mark. We felt that a SV at AKV would be obtainable at 7 months.

When you compare the initial price + dues, BLT is less expensive, IMHO by a lot over time. RIght now AKV is about $8/pt cheaper initially but over $1/year/pt more on dues. So in about 7 years, you break even (with 43 years left to go). Unless you think you may sell in 7 years, BLT is cheaper (and, potentially a higher resale due to the location and size).

BUT, since you already have BLT, how about splitting the add-on? Some more at BLT, some at AKV (enough for 1-2 nights at concierge, just in case you get lucky)?? The incentives may go down a little but you may have the perfect combo!

Well, you already have 160 points at BLT. The times when you want to be there, just use banking/borrowing that year to get what you need.

This way, if you own at both AKV and BLT, you will be able to work it out. What you may want to do, is figure out how many points you would need for those 2 bedroom trips to BLT, how often, and then work your new add on around that, basically adding on some more BLT plus extra AKV points.

For example, a 2 bedroom in late June, LV, is 386 points. With an every other year trip, you would need about 195 BLT points to book it at the 11 month window.

Maybe you could add on 40 BLT points, and 120 at AKV. Then, you would have what you need to go in the 2 bedrooms at BLT but still have enough to book AKV concierge in the future.

Or, if BLT is the resort of choice most of the time and AKV just some, buy more BLT but just a few AKV.
