Need help and advice. We are planning 3-day land 4-day cruise later this summer. Three families with kids ranging in age from 5 to 14. We currently have reservations at AKL and are wait-listed for the Beach Club. Need help deciding which resort will be better. I'm concerned about AKL being so far from everything.

Hi Max's Mom!

I have never been to either but I've done emmense research on both because those were the two we were choosing between too! We were also concerned with AKL being so far away. I knew we definately wanted the afternoon breaks since we have a four year old, yet we'd also want to do dinners and breakfasts. We decided on BC for two reasons: 1.) We were just a hop from anywhere and could easily fit in a break without spending too much time on a bus/in a car. 2.) Our DD LOVES swimming and we'd heard that SAB at BC was absolutely wonderful! We hadn't heard that many wonderful things about AKL's pool area. We decided to try AKL when DD is old enough to appreciate the animals without missing the familiar foods and killer pool area.

Just my two cents worth, hope it helps!

Our vote is for the beach club...we're addicted....the pool is awesome, character breakfast is great, location can't be beat! princess: :wizard: pirate:

We've stayed at both AKL and YC/BCV (so, not BC, but the other two) and both were really great. Many people think of it as a downfall that AKL is so distant from everything but for some people, that's what they are looking for...a nice retreat after a day in the parks. Is that what you are after? If so, it's for you. If you are worried about the seclusion it may not be right for your family. My favorite area personally is the Epcot area because there are so many places to dine and quick access to Epcot/MGM. Plus, there is a beach at BC, Boardwalk is right across the way, and you can't beat Stormalong Bay. Just be sure to request a room with an oversized balcony because some of the BC rooms have the teeniest little balconies that could only hold one person STANDING!! Not even a chair could fit LOL

I suggest the AKL! The breath-taking lobby, the spacious, cozzy rooms, the adventured-themed views, the basic small touches! :wizard: I REALLY Reccomend the AKL, You WILL Love it!

For 3 days with your age kids, I'd say Beach Club hands down.

If I only had 3 days I'm not sure if the AK would even fit in my schedule. Too much to do in MK, EP and MGM. AK is my least favorite park. I'd never want to stay so far away if I only had 3 days.

"Crazy about Disney..but not as crazy as the Dunlaps!"

Hey just noticed your tag line....I resemble that remark....LOL.....Have a great time when you are there....

I have stayed at both with small children. My vote is for BC :boat:. AK is nice, (but no straws for your drinks, my kids hated that). I love the location of BC, the dining options are endless with being around several other resorts and next to Epcot. Although, either is great, because afterall the most important thing is, you're at WDW! :jumping4:
