AKL or Beach Club

I'm thinking of bringing my mother down for 5 days in early December. She loves Disney but hasn't been for a few years because her health is failing and she can't walk very well anymore. I'd love to be able to take her to see the Christmas decorations because neither or us have ever been there at that time of year.

My mom has never used a wheelchair so I'm going to have to convince her to do so on this trip. She would never make it around the parks without one.

Here's the question: Which resort would be better for us? AKL or Beach Club? We've never stayed at either one, we're usually in a cheaper hotel like All-Star or Coronado Springs. I like the idea that Beach is closer to Epcot and MGM, I could push her over to Epcot and Boardwalk easily for dinner every evening.

Please give me any advice you have...

thanks,

I would say BC, because it is so close to Epcot. I think that your logic is correct.

I agree with you both. BC, because there is more to do without relying on transportation.

I Agree with the above posts, BC. Have stayed at both at and AKL we felt like we where "out of the action". At BC you're right there in the middle of Epcot, MGM and the Boardwalk. Always something to do without having to get on a bus and go somewhere.

I agree, BC is better than AKL with your current situation. However, if cost is a concern, you might want to consider the WL, as it is supposed to be decorated to the hilt at Christmas-time. I haven't seen it at that time of year, but it is very Christmas-like in May even, so I imagine December is wonderful, plus it should have much better deals than the BC at that time of year.

BC, though, as you say is a nice walk from EPCOT and Boardwalk...if 'getting out' more is your goal, BC may be the way to go. If so, I would try to opt for a room as close to Int'l Gateway as possible.

Good luck!!!

BC for sure...Don't worry all of the resorts are decked out for the holidays during holiday time (we did our first holiday visit last December & since we loved it so much we're going again this December)...dont' forget the S/D. The Dolphin has a huge Christmas tree with a train that circles around it...just a short walk from BC. You'll just love WDW this time of year, the holiday spirit is in the air everywhere you go!!

And las3888, I made a special trip to the WL last year to check out their decs (I took video), the tree was just beautiful!

Oooooh...thats a tough one. Both of those resorts are excellent. I would have a very hard time making a decision myself. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. In your case, though, I would stick with the Beach Club due to its proximity to the parks.

DEFINITELY Beach Club! You would have to get on a bus at the AKL to get anywhere, the BC is much more convenient.

But do make your reservations soon, early December is booking up. Enjoy! :)
