AKL or BC

Help me decide!!! I really wanted a monorail resort but they are all full when I am going (first week of Oct!) and the only deluxes available are the AKL and BC. I am currently booked at the BC as it was $10 more a night than AKL Savannah View. I figured for the $10 more we can avoid renting a car. I have stayed at AKL and like it, but dislike how far out it is. I have never stayed at the BC as it doesn't appeal to me so much New England decor is NOT what I want on vacation...I live in New England...I don't want tto think of home. In this case do the perks of the BC outweigh its decor issues?

I'm going to keep trying for a monorail resort...but in case...am I doing the right thing?

Hi! If you have already stayed at AKL then I would say stay at BC. Without the theming, the location itself is worth staying there. We also love dinner at Cape May, and the SAB is awesome. Hopefully is will still be warm enough in Oct. to try is out. Walking to EPCOT and taking the boat to MGM is great (I hate those busses.) Have you tried the Swan or Dolphin? Same great location, but not the theme of New England definitely. Very nice resorts with some great views.

Hi, I just got a monorail resort as an upgrade from POFQ. It was showing availability online but when I called to upgrade the CM told me everything was booked. Long story short - there are different inventories for online and telephone ressies. Keep checking online - if you see something open call and tell them it is available online and ask if they would please check with Guest services - who has the entire inventory available - to see what GS can find for you. The reason they tell you everything is gone is that from their computers all they can see is their whole inventory is gone. I kept questioning and questioning the CM and lo and behold she found space for us at the POLY! another tip I saw on these boards is that inventory is released at 8 a.m. Orlando time each day so if someone cancels your best bet is calling them at 8. Good luck! let me know if you get something....

I've stayed at both. We had this same scenerio for our December trip.

We opted for AKL Concierge Level and booked Sunrise Safari - we are surprising our son. I also thought I would have concierges get us some safari mickey hats and golden ears mongrammed for our arrival.

DH and DS love AKL and I love them both. However, AKL restaurants tower over BC.

You really can't go wrong with either. The downside about the AKL is its location. You are busing it to everything. In return, you get a great theme and African wildlife outside your window. The BC is also great (though I have only visited there). We stayed at the Swan and loved the location. Not quite that Disney feel, but still a great resort. Have you considered the Boardwalk, or is that too New England too?

Tough choice. they are both wonderful resorts. I think the BC location as an edge over AKL since you can just hop a boat or walk to Epcot (or MGM but its a bit farther).
OTOH we had good bus service at AKL and didnt take that long to get where we wanted to go.
