Looking over the map of the AKL, it seems like the best views would be from the end rooms of the horseshoe thinking you can see the whole savannah. I hear about the long walks from the end rooms-how long is long--a block, six blocks-a couple minutes, 10 minutes??? Can you walk from an end room outside to the lobby or pool or don't they have walkways inside the savannahs?

Also, If you get a room on the zebra trail, can you see over to the kudu trail? We have deluxe savannah rooms booked, so I am assuming we will be on the 5th floor somewhere. Is that correct?

i found the walk to be very long......there were several occasions where we would be at the pool and want to do lunch and rather then walk to our rooms to get our mugs we would just purchase our beverages. we were 2 rooms from the end on kudu trail. great view but at akl you have a great view of the animals from anywhere. i am shooting for pool this year, also closer to busses. im terrrible with time but i would guess it took about 10-15 minutes to walk that hall.

I thought it was kind of a long walk when we stayed there but I guess it wasn't too bad. Although, I didn't like it too much after a long day in the parks. We didn't have the greatest luck with seeing THAT many animals with our view and we stayed down at the end.
This time we are staying pool view.

It is a long walk! The corridors have big picture windows every once in a whille so you get a great view (off both sides) as you go along.

If your room is at the end of Kudu ~ as you walk the kudu trail you will see the Arusha Savanna on your right and the sunset savanna on your left through the windows.

If you are at the end of the Zebra trail as you walk along you will see the Arusha savanna on your left and the pool area on your right.. near the end of the zebra trail - past the pool you will see the Uzima Savanna on your right.

10 minutes sounds about right.. but remember, if you are just running to your room to get your sunglasses you forgot.. it's 10 minutes there... and 10 minutes back- :D

Personally I like the central Arusha view on either Kudu or Zebra -

on Zebra you are closer to the pool elevators that go right down to the pool/simba's clubhouse and are close to mara. If you are on Kudu though, you get to walk across that cool rope bridge - it is a great walk to your room.

Last time we stayed on the zebra side and my daughter was so disappointed we didn't get to cross the bridge to Kudu.

The sunset savanna has ostriches.. but I still prefer the Arusha view with the outlook in the middle and the horseshoe of the hotel all around you.

You are probablly really confused now :earseek:

well put!!!! i thought it seemed like 10 minutes or so, allthough beautiful i will do pool from now on. there really is no "bad" viewing places of the animals , i would rather be closer to the busses/store/food/pool then waiting by the window to catch a glimpse of an animal i can see from other areas free of upcharge....and oh that haul!!!

againe great relply very well put, you brought back some memories!!!

I guess my pool view should be a good spot.

The walk from the lobby to the farthest rooms at the end (we had a room at the very end of the hall facing out the back...great view too) took 3-4 minutes.

3-4 MINUTES......was that sprinting??????

I wouldn't mind hearing more about that rope bridge! Details? I am staying standard savannah--requested (with everybody else!) Zebra trail, Arusha savannah.

Trust me, unless you're a snail, it's no more than 5 minutes from end to lobby, but still, five minutes of walking in a hallway is quite a trek.

The 'rope bridge' is on level five and spans the lobby. It's made of dark wood and is quite spectacular although 'rope' is a misnomer. Although it is technically a suspension bridge, there is no swaying or playing. It's just a great view and nice to look at.

We made it in less than 5 minutes, and even stopped occasionally to look at an animal. If you factor in wait for an elevator, it could be a bit longer.

5-6 minutes sounds about right. That may not seem like a long walk, but trust me, after 9 hours walking in the parks, and then walking from the parking lot, that 5 minute trek to your room seemed like an eternity. As you pass the windows along the trek looking out at the savannahs, the hallway looks the same all the way down. We never really knew if we were getting close yet to our room unless we began to look at the doors! We loved our room view though. And we actually laughed to ourselves about that trek ~ "honey, so do you want to go back to the room for ____ or _____? Dear, do you want to go get _____?" hahahahaha.... more often than not, the answer was no.

I think it was about a 5 minute walk. I had an injured leg so it seemed like it was a 5 HOUR walk! I do have to say that it was very peaceful way on the end.

Our room was 3 rooms from the end on the 4th floor. We walked about 4 minutes on the 3rd floor to the elevator, up one floor and about a 1-2 minute walk on 4th floor to our room. I thought when they gave us the room that it was going to be a long walk, but it wasn't bad, and after all, there is plenty to look at so it's not boring. I didin't think it was bad after the parks to walk it, after all we just walked 15 hours in the parks, what's 5 more minutes??

After a long day at the parks, it seemed like the walk to the room would never end!!! It is a very long walk to alot of the rooms ours was one of them , and if you have a car it's another long walk... :guilty:

The walk does seem incredibly long. After a full day at the Magic Kingdom, as we were passing one of the windows that view the animals, my husband stopped and said "Hey, there's our house." We live in Ohio.
