Can someone tell me where the Urusha savannah is located on the AKL map? I have stayed 2 times at the AKL but only in standard views and would love to stay on the zebra trail because I have never stayed on that side of the lodge, but I really want to see zebras! Any suggestions for a request?

Hi there. The Arusha Savannah is within the horseshoe you see at the center of this map: You can see the Arusha Sav. from both the Kudu and Zebra Trails, so long as you are also overlooking the Arusha ;) There are also now zebra on the Sunset Savannah. Good luck!

Hi everyone!! We are back home, but I'm up to my eyeballs in paperwork (bills mostly!) so it will be several days before I post pictures and tell y'all about our AKL/AKV stay!! (yes, kimmar, I brought back some Zebra Domes just for you, but I know you'll share! ;))

...yay! :woohoo:
[...of COURSE, I'll share...]

Just a quick note about Savanna's (sorry, I'm still trying to get pictures uploaded and organize the mess!!):

Sunset Savannah, which now shares with Kidani, has LOTS of animals: Zebras, Giraffe, Ostrich, Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Antelope...... The animals were very active late in the afternoon - zebra and giraffe especially, running all over the Savanna!! :cloud9:

I'm hoping to have some pictures ready later this afternoon, but no promises!!

OMG...I'm on Weight watchers, but YEARNING for those Zebra Domes...I've only got about 5 1/2 months left, ha ha.

Here's a question for you all......Do I:

1. Keep my standard view and sign up DH and I for the Sunset Savanna tour

OR...

2. Upgrade to a Savanna view without the tour.

I think price wise, they are about the same.

TIA!

...I'm not following your line of thinking - do you just really want to see animals?? You know, of course, that there are PLENTY of 'public' viewing locatioons for that...also, how long will you be staying at AKL??

The Wanyama (sunset) Safari comes with dinner at Jiko! Personally, I'd go with the standard view and book the Safari! :goodvibes We just got back Friday night; had a Savanna view for 8 nights and honestly, for as little time as we spent in the room, we could have been in the basement!!!

Yes, I know, I'm supposed to be getting pictures ready to post here; I keep getting distracted!! :rolleyes1

Just a quick question about transportation. What is the average time it takes to get to each of the parks? I've seen the times in the Official Guide, but I'm wondering how accurate that is. Also if going to Chef's Mickey's for an 8:30 breakfast...what time would you leave? Does the bus take you directly there. Thanks....

...personally, I'd be at the bus depot by 8AM - this way, if we arrive at the Contemporary early, we could stroll around and explore the grounds....plus, it'd take time to get from MK to the Contemporary - either by walking or by monorail...

Hi! We'll be staying at the AKL Jambo for a first time as DVC members. We are booked Standard View, hopefully pool, not Savannah. Do all the DVC rooms have balconies, also any other recommendations for a first timer, would be appreciated! :goodvibes My three kiddos are so excited! Are there pool activities similar to the ones at the BC?

Just dropping in to say HI to all my friends. I have been out of it for a few months. I have just had total knee replacement! :cool1: Hope to be planning a WDW trip soon.

Welcome back Laura. I am looking forward to everyone pictures. The only way I am going to get my AKL fix right now. :rolleyes1

ANGEL! It's so good to have you back !! Don't be such a stranger next time......BTW ~ hope that knee gets better REAL soon! :thumbsup2

Wow the sunset savanna sounds much more exciting than when I stayed on it last year.

I guess that I am much more paranoid than Kimmar. For an 8:30 reservation, I would be out at the MK bus stop by 7:30 at the latest because I would be afraid that I just missed a bus and had to wait 20 minutes. No, the bus does not take you directly there. You will need to do one of three things:

1) quickest option: take the MK bus and then walk to the Contemporary
2) take the MK bus and then take the monorail to the Contemporary
3) take a bus to another park and then switch to a Contemporary bus there.

Another question for the AKL pros--

We decided to upgrade from a standard view to a pool view for our anniversary trip so that we aren't stuck looking at a parking lot. I called our AAA TA this morning and gave her the go-ahead. She called back to report that she had just upgraded us to a pool-view room...with bunkbeds! Now we'll get to spend our time looking at empty bunkbeds that remind us of our AKL-loving kids that we left behind!:lmao: I even asked the TA is we could switch back to a standard, as a regular pool-view wasn't available any more. She said that she couldn't switch it back.

So...what are the odds that we might be given a non-bunk bed room? We arrive at MCO at 10am. and are using ME. I have read many threads about parents trying hard to wind up with bunk beds. I plan on requesting a non-bunk bed room ever-so-sweetly!

What do you think?

Just a quick hello and a quick question. We will be at AKL:yay: the end of July. My Ds and Dil, who live in Tampa plan to drive over one day of our stay and have a meal with us at the lodge.

I can't remember how long the resorts allow you to park while either dining or having a look around. It seems to me like 2-3 hours. If its that short I may have them park at a store parking lot on 192 and shuttle them back and forth myself.

Does anyone know the time limit and how strickly its enforced? They are also Fl AP holders if it would help to show the gate guard that.

Thanks!
