Whew,

My DH FINALLY updated our poor burned-out computer. I'm BACK on line at home!!! I haven't had a chance to catch up but I'm back on line and I have a lot of reading and posting to do. We had a major computer problem. Our computer literally burned out (smoke and everything ). It took a minute for my DH (engineer geek ) to figure out if he could salvage it or if we needed another one. I would log on using his laptop from time to time but my computer at the school blocks everything so I couldn't be consistent. Thank you to all who sent the Christmas Icons. I updated my signature tonight. Congrats to all who have vacationed and returned and started trip reports. Also, congrats brookeliz on your DVC!!! I've missed everyone... Hope everyone had a healthy, happy turkey day.

We'll be staying at beautiful AKL from 2nd August - 15th August !!!


I feel SO EXCITED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Now I need to visit HERE very often and learn everything you can tell me about "our" wonderful resort ... and WDW !!!

I WILL be..at least I hope I will be!

We leave in just under 6 hours...noon Eastern time...for the LOOOONG drive from CT to FL. We won't actually arrive in Orlando til sometime around dinner time on Thursday.

But the car is packed, the Christmas music cued up, the Christmas DVD's ready to roll, and we're just about ready to roll, too.

Now I have to get about 4 hours of "work" in, from home, so I don't have to use a vacation day, today. Luckily, it's a lot of "loose end tying", so I don't have to be too focused.

We'll be arriving at the Poly on Dec. 9 and the AKL on Dec. 14.

So, we're all packed (well, except for the day to day neccessities like glasses, contact lenses, razors..you know, the last minute stuff). We finished up last night. Tonight we pack the car (fun, fun!!).

Yesterday, my wife went out and fueled up the van. Grand total for the fill-up, which was close to 20 gallons.....38 cents. Yup, you read that right....38 cents.

Our grocery store (Price Chopper) offers, for every certain amount you spend, a per gallon discount (which accumulates) at a local gas station. We'd been "saving up" the discount for just this purpose. They can't give it to you "free"..they have to charge something like 1.9 cents per gallon...but our discount basically brought the cost down as low as legally possible.

I'm hoping to, once again, post "live" updates from the road. Hopefully, THIS time, AKV's internet connection cooperates with our laptop. If everything works out, I should have some Holiday pics from AKV to post by the end of the weekend. I'll also start a "live trip report" thread over in the trippies section and I'll put a link in this thread for everyone. THERE I hope to post pics and maybe some links to some youtube vids of the festivites (like the Osborne Lights, etc) over the course of our trip.

I'm sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope that all is well now and that your life will return to "normal".

How exciting that you & Marco have booked AKL! I love many of the resorts, but AKL is truly my favorite!

Please do stop by here often, just to chat or ask any questions. We are some of the nicest DISers you'll ever "meet" if I do say so myself!

We're real....well, I don't know a nice word to use to describe it...."obsessive" when it comes to our trips.

MOST of our packing was done in early November, with odds and ends added over the past few weeks. Most of the bags were, essentially, completely packed before Thanksgiving. We added some stuff that we couldn't pack any earlier on Sunday night and the real "last minute" stuff (like glasses, razors, etc) LAST night to the ONE bag we hadn't "checked off", just before we loaded the car.

And I think we do it to avoid exactly the nightmares you're describing. The difference is...DW and I don't get them the night before we leave....we start having them the WEEK before.

Have a safe trip! We'll "see" you there! I'll be the 200 lb, 6 ft 3 blond guy, towing around 3 kids (and my lovely DW), and wearing the Santa hat (or ears, if we can lay our hands on some!!!).
