Would you recommend staying in a 2-bedroom at Kidani or Jambo for a first-time AKL visitor? We may be bringing my mom next trip, and I'd like to give her the best chance of enjoying it. I love both locations but have never gotten a 2-bedroom before. Thanks for any advice!

Kidani room will be slightly larger, have the pull out chair in the living room, and the extra bathroom. The choice is yours :) Have a great trip!

Having stayed in both, I'd say Kidani too. :thumbsup2 It's a fabulous resort, a little more intimate than Jambo. Either way you can't go wrong. :thumbsup2

Except for the Values, the 2-bedrooms at Jambo House also have the pull out chair.

All 2-bedrooms in Jambo House are lock-offs (1-bedroom & studio with interior connecting door). Kidani Village has both dedicated and lock-off 2-bedrooms. The 2-bedrooms in Kidani Village are about 100 square feet larger than the non-value 2-bedrooms in Jambo House.

Statement above, that "Kidani rooms will be slightly larger," is incorrect. They are a lot larger; 100 sq feet is a large difference. You get the extra bathroom. Master bedroom and living room are larger, master bath is larger and has tub and separate shower (Jambo has combined tub and shower in master bath) If you have a car, you park under the building and with elevators along each wing you can always park fairly close to your room. My rules are fairly simple: (a) if getting studio or GV go for Jambo, its studios are same size as Kidani, the Jambo single story GV is the best GV there is, and Jambo has the three restaurants and larger pool with more shade; (b) if getting 1BR or 2BR take the significant room size difference and better bathrooms and go for Kidani.

There is no quick service restaurant at Kidani, if you want that, you would have to go over to Jambo House.

At Kidani you could also book a dedicated 2 bedroom which would have 2 queens in the second bedroom.

Now, I really like Jambo, and we usually have studios so that's where I book, but when I want the other amenities I do book Kidani. Jambo is my favorite of the 2 buildings however. I like the pool and hot tub areas a bit better there, just my preference of course.

Another plus, is Kidani is the first stop to the parks, so rarely will you have to stand on the bus going to a park. That could and does happen when you are waiting in the AM at Jambo.

I appreciate all the help! There were many things I hadn't considered, but I knew this would be the place to get the important info.

We brought my mom to AKL twice. (so, 3 adults total) Both times 2br in Jambo. It was great and she LOVED it! She basically had her own room which she was happy about.

DH and I just stayed at Kidani for the first time this past Sept and we didn't love it. We much prefer Jambo and will only stay at Kidani again if we absolutely have to.
We love the energy at Jambo, in it's entirety. Zawaki Marketplace, Victoria Falls Lounge, Jiko, Boma and the Mara right there, the huge gorgeous lobby...we are in love with Jambo.
It really all depends on personal preference.
