How comfortable are they? this is for an adult, so it needs to be fairly comfy, especially after a gazillion hours in parks!:headache: (though you would think you could sleep on a rock after all the walking!

From personally sleeping on one several times, I can tell you they leave a lot to be desired. I felt the bar from the bed across my bed the whole night and didn't sleep very well. My son thought it was fine, but he's 5 and could sleep anywhere. I find the pull out chair much more comfortable then the pull out couch.

I would not put an adult on one. My adult sons have complained enough that now I make sure all adults get a real bed. My grandchildren (oldest is 9) are fine on them.

We went in 2010 with our in laws and parents, so all 6 of us took a turn sleeping on it - it was AWFUL! My back felt like it was breaking all day - it was brutal. I think I would have done better sleeping on the floor.

Thank you all for letting me know before I was going to switch rooms!(And at the cost of these rooms, really??!! That tells you how BAD the pullouts are if the 'pullout chair" in room is better! Anyone from Disney listening!!?? :rolleyes1

this is making me so sad to hear! What am I going to do with my 2 boys ?? I can't switch the room now. we rented points from a friend who owns DVC. What do people do in a case where you just can't sleep on one?

With the age of your two boys, they will probably be okay. And if they can't stand sleeping on it, you would have to put them on the floor to sleep.

These rooms were done for DVC members and since we pay for these sofas through our dues, we aren't too motivated to want Disney to replace them at our expense. :rotfl: That's why there are bigger units available, we now get a grand villa or a 2 bedroom and a studio so that everyone has a bed.

I haven't heard complaints from too many kids. Mine are fine on them (7&9). It seems the problem starts at the age where you can actually wake up sore. Luckily, kids don't seem to have that problem. It makes me chuckle to think about my little girl walking around in the morning talking about her aching back.

My sister and I (both in our 30s) slept on the pull out couch and pull out chair last year. While not ideal I didn't find it that bad. In fact, I felt it was a vast improvement over older style pull out couches. I did not have any problem with the bar in the back issue as the pull out couch at kidani is folded in such a way that the bar is not right at your back.

Again, it is not ideal but we spent a week there and never had a problem falling asleep or waking up sore the next day.

The OP states that the pullout bed will be for an adult. I wouldn't sleep on one, and I think they are more geared for a child than an adult.

In general, if you want to make a pull out sofa sleeper more tolerable the answer is "air mattress".

They do make individual one's that only inflate about 2 inches and are intended for backpacking ground sleepers. These self-inflate and don't need pumps. I've heard they are very comfy but are pricey.

The queen sized one's are better priced and would fold down very flat but are heavy (if flying) and you would need the pump too, unless built in.

I like the air matress on the pull out because it makes it higher off the ground and feels less like camping. They can be quite comfy and be made up with sheets like a regular bed. We've had great success using our air mattress on a pull-out.
