AKL - Here we go

Wow - I´m really excited.
We definetely want to have savannah-view.
Do you know, how realistic it is, to book standart and become a free
upgrade???

That is how I always book rooms. Only go for standard. Then bring my cute little girl up to the counter and let her make freinds.

Past 3 trips out of 4 we have gotten upgraded. Lagoon view at BC, Savanha view at AKL, and Courtyard at WL. Only poly kept us at standard.

My daughter would just walk up the the desk and ask "daddy, can we see the animals from our room?"...I would say "I don't know honey, I am not sure if I signed us up for that"

If you REALLY want Savannah view then you should book it and pay for it. People do get free upgrades but that is not always the case. If you want a certain view then that is the view you should book.

I think AKL affords more of a chance for upgrades because they have so many more savannah view rooms than they do standard. But it is a chance. Also, you may be upgraded, but to a pool view and still see no animals but the human kind out at the pool!

Book what you can live with and then smile at your luck if upgraded!

We were at the AKL earlier this month. I did book standard because at the time I really didn't care what we were looking at as long as we were at disney!! Upon check in they upgraded us to pool view, and although it was a very nice view, I thought to myself that I originally booked AKL for the animals, so I went to the concierge and asked if I could change rooms. They told me that I could for an extra $25/night. I figured it was worth it, so we switched and my dd's LOVED looking at the animals, couldn't get them to leave the room (or the pool for that matter). What I'm trying to say is that an upgrade is never guaranteed, and it may be to a pool view, and not a savannah view. Either way, have fun!

I think you are kind of like me! I don't want the view enough to pay for it, but it sure would be fun to be upgraded! There are plenty of viewing sites, so we are looking forward to seeing the animals either way. It's not going to make or break our vacation if we can't see animals from our room. We are so excited to stay at the AKL!!!

I just went in September and we couldn't afford a savannah view when we booked. We decided to book a standard, try to save extra money and take our chances when we got there that we might be able to pay for an upgrade and if not we would be fine with standard. When we checked in we asked how much it would be and about availibilty, but we had already been upgraded for free. We were "hoping" that might happen but we were willing to spend the extra money when we got there if we didnt or just stick with standard. Honestly I had heard about alot of people getting upgraded for free...but I never really thought we would get it. My advice would be don't rely just on that chance if you really want a savannah view. It also depends on when you are going, we went during one of the slowest times so it was easier to get an upgrade.
