AKL help

I guess I need help and opinions.

We're taking a family vacation next year Dec. 2-12th and our home resort is SSR. BUT I want to surprise my DH and DD with 2 or 3 nights at AKL. Here are my questions:

1. Since I know it may be hard to book at my 7 month window am I better off "renting" from another DVCer that has AKL as their home resort?

2. Or should I just book directly with Disney and pay out of pocket?

3. Is the Sunrise Safari available to DVC members?

4. How many points is it to book concierge level for a studio with savannah view? Concierge level isn't listed on the DVC site

I think that's all the questions I have for now.

The Concierge level is available for points, and the chart on the dis does include it:

There are only 5 Concierge level 2 bedrooms available. These split up, and are used as either 2 bedrooms or 1 bedroom, studio units. I think there are 3 Savannah View 2 bedroom units and 2 pool view units, and you cannot guarantee a SV concierge unit on points. The view is a request

The sunrise safari can be booked if you have concierge level booked with points.

If it's really a must do surprise, I would book through CRO, and then try using points at 7 months out, day by day. Since there are so few available for points, even if you find an AKV owner willing to try, you still may not get successive days. That's just my opinion.

However you do it, I hope it happens!

Concierge in December at the 7 month mark? I would really really really doubt it. I tried for December 1st concierge this year on the very first day that ANY owner could book concierge and at 9:08 am I was waitlisted already. Luckily I had already booked a cash concierge room back at the beginning of the year, before we even knew AKL would be AKV. I have kept my cash ressie for this December 1 and I'm still waitlisted for the studio on points.

I wouldn't rule out the 7 month window so quickly. I just booked April for a value studio with no problem.
