Ok, just something I remembered I heard from one of our guides on our sunrise safari. Don't quote me because the details are kinda fuzzy...I was in the middle of eating breakfast.
Anyway...we got talking about the sunrise safari and how it is usually very difficult to get a spot when our guide mentioned this. He said the maybe in the near future they would be offering a kind sunset safari. It would be right on the grounds of AKL instead of AK. Might be a type of dinner and drinks package or something.
I hope it works out.....would be really nice.

Don D. at AKL Concierge told us they were working on a Sunset Safari that would be for adults only.. 4 couples, a sunset safari at DAK followed by dinner at Jiko at AKL...

We booked this for our anniversary trip $300 per couple with dinner at Jiko and the wine pairings. I can't wait!!

ummm... only for couples? what if one person is interested? what if two friends are interested?

I don't know about a "onsie" but I'd imagine that in this case a "couple" can be any combination of two adults.

If they won't take a "onsie", maybe you could post on these boards for another solo traveler to join you. Over on the Adults and Single Travelers board there are a LOT of "onsies" looking for company for dining and touring. Or it's possible that someone might be taking their mother along and need that additional person to make a "couple". I'm sure that something could be worked out.

sounds like this would be horribly awkward as a solo... but I may be the one taking my mother, she'd love that. Might be a great present for her 70th birthday in a couple of years...
