We have two DD's, 3 and 7. Which place has a more kid friendly menu, Jiko or Boma???

I would say Boma since they have several kids' selections in the buffet, plus other buffet items to chose from...plus several desserts to sample.

No question, with kids that age I'd choose Boma.

Boma is a buffet, with a section of kids foods and a huge variety of choices for everyone. Since it is a buffet, you can control the length of your meal. It's a bustling place, fairly noisy, so if the kids are getting a bit 'enthusiastic' and making a bit of noise, it's going to be lost in the general din.

Jiko is Signature Dining. It's elegant, quieter and definitely more upscale, and the meal may take a couple of hours. They do have a kids menu, and you certainly won't be made to feel unwelcome if you bring the little ones, but it's a 'sit still and be quiet' kind of place, and the kids may not enjoy that a whole lot.

I basically agree that Boma is a good choice for kids. On top of what others have said, I think it's a great place to encourage kids to try something new. The food is colorful, and they have a number of delicious, healthy options - like fresh strawberries, watermelon rind salad (sometimes), hummous with different breads too choose. Since it's a buffet, kids can try a small taste of something with having to commit to a full plate of it. Even desserts come in small tart sized portions.

I am guessing this is beyond the scope of your question, but FYI, AKL also has a kid friendly quick service - the Mara. There are a number of kid friendly choices and they have crayons and Dinsey pictures for the kids to color. AND ther are several hidden Mickey's in the mural for the kids to find.

There are also several in the AKL lobby, if you need something to do while you wait for your table at Boma or Jiko. (one is in the waiting are even by the fountain outside Boma)
