Hello great members of Disboards! I am a new member and I just wanted to know if AKL is still available for purchas. And if so, how much per point? I know I can just call my guide but I'd rather not involve them just yet. Hope it's ok to ask here. Thank you!

Direct is $155/pt.

Resale is running somewhere in the mid $80's.

We took the tour last week and we were told they'd only sell us Aulani and Polynesian. I asked about other resorts and they said no, there's nothing. We found that odd. We expressed no interest in the Polynesian or Aulani. Resale it'll be for us.

Disney sold deeds at every possible resort in August 2015. If you push them hard enough they will find you AKV points.

DVD created direct sales waitlists for the non-active resorts and has since stopped adding buyers to the lists. The sales that we see recorded for the older resorts are from the waitlists.

At the end of August, I was talking with my DVC guide about buying direct. I expressed concern with Poly, because we want to be able to book a 1 BR. He was able to put me on the waitlist for BLT. I got a call about a week later that they had points for me. However, in the meantime, I had put a contract on BCV resale.

So, I am not sure if that has changed in the last couple of weeks, or if they would put you on a list for AKV, but it is worth a call. I think the price was $165 per point for BLT, but I could be wrong. He gave me so many numbers that it was hard to keep track of it all.

They will sell you anything you want.

My guide will sell you 25 points at OKW as a new member of you have the money.

If you really want to help a wait list, bid on a matching contract!

Then they saved you money. Very nice for DVC to do!!!

Are you sure they have closed all the wait list. I had only heard about VGF, VGC and BCV.

Disney is very happy to snap up a resale contract and then sell it to you "new" for 50% more. Except for Poly, just buy resale. Buying AKL direct just does not make sense.

When we toured Kidani last week they had over +1500 points to sell at AKL due to "buyer credit issues". They were really pushing us to buy that day and it left a bad taste in our mouth so we actually cut it short without touring the actual property. The DVC person said it would be $1500 more to buy 150 points at Poly if we waited. He also mentioned a lot of people have been saying they are holding off until the new WL additions are built, of course he said that was a bad idea.
IDK we want to buy after the 1st of the year but I was not expecting the used car salesman tactics this particular seller was using.

We are buying resale into AKL for $75 per point. No point in buying direct. You can save so much money

You haven't passed ROFR yet, right? That's the question.....will you pass with that price? It's only a good buy if you don't mind the limitations put on resale. We don't mind those limitations, but some do. I personally recommend resale, but it doesn't work for everyone.

We passed ROFR in just 13 days. Got closing documents yesterday, will be closed by the 23rd

Unfortunately, it obvious the culture has changed at WDW. With a bad product in the Poly (only 6 percent of all timeshares are studio only and 80 percent of all timeshare owners citing the kitchen as something they desire on vacation according to ARDA), you will see more tactics from a more desperate sales team.

I believe that AKL resale is the way to go, with the contract i am buying we will break even in probably 4-5 years.

Has anyone else noticed that listing prices are going up for AKL? I know that is not what they actually sell for but I noticed an increase since i put in my offer at the beginning of September.

I recently looked at all the major re-sellers and looked at the point range (100-125) that i was researching at the beginning of September and and contacts that were in the low to mid 80's are now 90-91pp. Why would this be? Is this point range considered a "smaller" contract thus getting a higher price per point?

I believe that the brokers are testing the ceiling for all of the resorts, AKV included. I think that they are pushing sellers to list higher and increase the overall average listing prices. I know that Disney doesn't ROFR AKV at this point, so I know it's not buyers trying to bid higher in an effort to try to avoid buybacks (like what is happening with SSR at the moment).
