We are staying at AKL for the first time .....and for the first time as DVC members and for the first time on a concierge level. So we are pretty excited. However we do not know much about the restaurants there. We were wondering about ADR's. If you want to eat at Jikos and Bomas is it a must to always have a reservation? Is it really booked??? Would need to make them 180 days out? Thank you!:)

Hubby and I really like Jiko's. Boma's is also good in our opinion, but if I had to choose between the two, it would be Jiko's. We always went with a reservation to Jiko's so I'm not sure how hard it is to get in without one. We have gone to Boma's several times without a reservation and were able to get in.

We have stayed at AKL several times. We always make reservations for Jiko and Boma (both breakfast and dinner). The food is great at both restaurants. If you don't have reservations, ask the CMs in the Lounge if they could get you one. Since you are staying at the AKL and on the Club Level, the CMs will have a good chance of getting you a reservation.

Of course, the IPO staff can make reservations for Jiko or Boma for you at the 180 day mark.

Don't forget about the Sunrise or Sunset Safaris. Both are great.

just an FYI, I have seen people turned away from Boma's without a ressie. It was at dinnertime. Always best to have an ADR!

It is always a good idea to have an ADR. You can be turned away without one.

That said, I walked up to the podium at Boma last July around 6:00 and was seated in less than 10 minutes. Might have been less than five.
