I just noticed there is a delux savannah room at AKL that is 40 square feet larger. Does anyone know where these rooms are located at the resort. Are they mixed in with the standard savannah? I want to stay on 3rd or 4th floor along zebra trail on the main circle (ideally, of course). Are there delux savannahs there? Any info would help. Thanks!

Hi there,

I am pretty sure they are on the 5th floor on both the Arusha & Sunset Savannas.

Besides being slightly larger there are some upgraded amenities such as a make up mirror, upgraded toiletries, robes and perhaps even automatic turndown.

Some also have day beds in addition to the regular bedding arrangement.

I don't think you would notice a difference in the size of the room. Unless you are a party of 5, I would stick with the regular savannah view.

Good luck getting zebra trail. :D We had a room on zebra trail as well as one of the other savannahs and they were both very nice.

The deluxe savanna view rooms at all on the fifth floor. They are just bigger then the rooms on floors 1 through 4. They offer the same views. The regular sized rooms at the AKL are the same as the rooms at the WL the deluxe sized rooms at the AKL are the same as the regular sized rooms at the YC. If you have less then 5 in your traveling party I think you will be fine an a regular savanna view room.

We stayed at AKL in June. We had a deluxe room (we were upgraded). If you book a deluxe, just be aware that not all of them have daybeds or extra amenities. We did not have a daybed, robes, or any extras that we probably wouldn't have gotten in a regular sav. room. Part of the extra space is also in regards to the balcony. The deluxe rooms' balconies are a bit bigger. We were also further away from the animals than we would have been in a regular sav. view because we were on the fifth floor. I know this is against the tide, but I wasn't very impressed with the AKL as a deluxe resort. Yes, the animals are cool, but they are also fleeting. You have to have good timing sometimes to catch them out. In general, I don't think the deluxe rooms are better than the reg. sav. rooms. But this was just our experience. I'm sure other rooms would be different or if you make clear your needs, then maybe your expectations would be met.

The deluxe savanna view rooms do not have robes or extra amenities(not sure specifically what you were looking for). The only difference between the regualr savanna view room and the deluxe savanna view rooms is the square footage of the room.

Concierge guests do also stay on the 5th floor in Deluxe Savanna view rooms and they do receive robes and trundown service but that is because they are staying Concierge and not just in a Deluxe Savanna View room.

We just got home today from staying at AKL Deluxe savannah view room and it was nice. My SIL wanted the bigger room but we would have been fine without it.

Our rooms (we had a total of three) were all very, very clean and our housekeeper did a wondeful job everyday!

While the animals were nice to sit and watch I could stay in the pool view and be very happy.

We loved it there and will stay there again.

Hi!
We stayed in the reg savannah view room when the AKL first opened. Family of 4, 2 adults and 2 small kids, had the bunk beds and we were quite comfortable.

I saw a deluxe room just a couple of weeks ago, we were at WL, other family members got comp upgrade at AKL to the deluxe savannah room. There isn't a real noticeable difference in the size, they had an armchair that I don't remember having in ours but that's no big deal. Didn't have a day bed in theirs, and they got what I think must have been the infamous people corral view. Not of the main savannah, there was this fence with nothing in it going out several feet then a small enclosed area with a giraffe and one of the cattle in the distance. Not near as nice as the Arusha savannah view we had on Zebra Trail. I can see why people are disappointed in those rooms (with the corral view). They were on the 5th floor.

My thought was I wouldn't pay the extra for that room for my family - not for slightly more space and an armchair.

We stayed at AKL 2 yrs in a row - 1st yr in a reg size room, pool view, 2nd yr in a "deluxe" size, savannah view. (we were upgraded to the deluxe size on arrival). I WOULD NOT pay extra for that size, the difference was hardly noticeable. I think we had an extra alcove with another dresser. that's about it.
