AKL Culinary Tour

I would love to hear from some of you who have been on the culinary tour at AKL. Im considering doing this while im there and wonder if it will be worth it. It sounds like a nice idea. I am also wondering if you can do it if you are not an AKL guest.

Anyone can do it. If you are going to be at the lodge I think it is worth it. I wouldnt make a trip just for that but if you plan to check out the lodge anyways go for it. I have done it twice. They walk you through both Boma and Jiko. They talk about the design and details of each restaurant. At Boma they give you samples of the soup and a zebra dome. At Jiko they have samples of the bread service for everyone.

We do it when we stay there and have a slow afternoon. Its nice to learn about some of the customs and get to try some samples. Its a nice little tour.

I enjoyed it. I agree that I woudl not make a special trip to take it, but it is a good way to meet the AKL chefs and get a little insight into the favors and foods they serve.

We were thinking of going there for the tour and then having dinner at the mara.

We'll be there next month and plan on doing one of the tours. Depending on our schedule we might get to do them both.

We've done it a couple of times. It's not been 100% the same every time. Interesting and nice to get a small taste of AKL food.
Yes, I wouldn't go out of my way but if you arrive early and want to kill a bit of time, have a taste, learn some cool stuff - it's worth it.
It starts at 4 (or at least it did last year) so just hand out in front by the check in podium and tell them you want to take the tour.
