AKL construction question

Excitedly, we are going to have our first stay at AKL during our upcoming trip this November. My question is, for anyone who has been recently, how did the construction of the AKL Villas affect your stay. I would hate for our first stay here to be hampered by noise, closings and general construction chaos, and I was worried about it. I know that of all places Disney certainly looks out for their guests and would take caution to making sure all is well. However, I thought I would ask for some Dis'ers first hand reports. Thanks alot everybody!:wave2:

I walked around the resort/ate at Boma last month and saw NO signs of construction at all.

I think I've heard from people who stayed there recently that if you get a Savannah view room at one far end of the resort that they could see construction.

By November, though, who knows? I wouldn't stress about it. I think I might stay there in October and the construction isn't even a factor in my resort decision.

We are staying at AKV in Sept and were wondering the same thing. We got the savannah view and it was quite a bit more. Any details would be great!!

The only Savannah affected by construction is Sunset. We had a villa on it in May but it was just off the lobby so we were quite a way from Kidani. Anyway, unless we were out on the balcony, we could not hear the construction.

I wonder if they will be finished with outside construction by November anyway. Kidani is supposed to be finished sometime next Spring so it might be all interior work by November?:confused3

We were there last month too. Unless you are on the Sunset Savanna, you will not notice a thing. We really never heard any noise, it was the equipment next to Jambo House. The rest of the resort is great. :goodvibes

depending on where you stay you can see the construction out your window across the savannah... other wise, you would never notice.

We were there 5/15 - 5/22 on the Kudu trail overlooking the Sunset Savannah. This is the area that pretty much overlooks the new building under construction. We saw a handful of animals out on that savannah during the course of the week, but not nearly as many as we have in the past. There was no construction "noise" that I could hear from inside the room, but you could hear the humming of the machines when the balcony door was open.

We did, however, see plenty of animals in other viewing areas and on other savannah's. And since I had reserved a standard view room that was supposed to overlook the parking lot and bus stop, I was perfectly content where I was...it didn't matter to me that we had to go down the hall to see the animals. However, if I had PAID for a Savannah view and that was my view, I probably would have been a little disappointed...but it wouldn't have ruined my vacation! There's no telling what will be going on in September, but based on what the building looked like last month, I think they'll still be doing outside construction on Kidani - I'm not a contractor, but it didn't look like they'd be moving to the interior only by then.

But reserving a pool view room will pretty much guarantee you will be away from the construction since it is on the opposite side of the resort...and it is only a little bit more $$ than a standard view room. The restaurants are over on that side as well, so if you're in a pool view room, you really won't even need to go over to the "construction side" and you shouldn't be affected AT ALL.

Lat month was our 4th stay at AKL, and even with the construction next door, it was still fabulous. If you have any other specific questions, I'd be happy to help!

Thanks alot for the replies everyone! I didn't think the construction would be an issue, but thought I would ask on here to be sure. We have always wanted to stay at AKL and are EXTREMELY excited to finally get the chance. It's our first deluxe stay and we can't wait!:wave2:

ENJOY! It's a great resort - I'm sure you'll have a fabulous vacation!
