AKL Concierge Rooms

I called CRO today a few times and even called AKL itself and I received different information about their concierge rooms. Since I have found that people on this forum seem to know the most, I was hoping someone can explain this to me:

I read that all the AKL concierge rooms were deluxe in size, some pool views, some savannah views. When I called to make a reservation (for 2007) that there are 2 levels of concierge, standard and deluxe. The person I spoke with said the difference was not view, only the size of the room. When I called AKL concierge to verify, they said they never heard of that. Some people said it would be 5th not 6th floor, but at AKL they said both are deluxe size.

Does anyone know what is actually going on here? I booked a standard concierge because that was all that was available, but I am not sure we'll be happy.

Sorry for the long thread. If anyone knows how this works, could you please let me know? TIA

The concierge rooms at the AKL are all deluxe rooms. They are located on the 5th and 6th floors. The actual lounge and staff are located on the 6th floor. The concierge rooms are identical to the deluxe rooms in terms of size and amenities.

While concierge guests, we have always stayed on the 5th floor, savannah room.

I've never heard of a standard room used as concierge at AKL. All concierge are on the 5th and 6th floor and those are all deluxe size rooms.

But .. if they have changed it and some are standard size, I don't think it will be a big problem unless you have 5 people with you. I have stayed in both sizes and hardly noticed the difference. The smaller size rooms are on lower floors, but some people swear the view is better there.

Never heard of a standard room Concierge. They are all 5th or 6th floor deluxe rooms.

That is what I always thought!!! Until my phone calls this morning. They said they had some standard size rooms on the 5th floor that were still concierge. The cost was almost $100 less than the deluxe ones. I'm just still confused about what I have booked. This is really strange. :confused3

mmmears,

If I were in your situation, I would call again. Ask for an explanation of standard concierge rooms. I have never heard of this.

I dont think it is a difference between deluxe and deluxe concierge because the deluxe savannah was quoted as less expensive as standard concierge. Very confusing. I've been trying to call the hotel directly to get a more difinitive answer, but have so far been unsuccessful.

Deluxe Savannah rooms ARE less expensive than a standard concierge room. That was the point I was trying to make.
From WDW's website:
(Value Season) Deluxe Savanna View room: $ 350/night plus tax
(Value Season) Deluxe Water/Pool View room: $295/night plus tax
(Value Season) Standard Concierge room (which, yes, is a Deluxe room): $435/night

After calling the front desk at AKL, we have indeed reserved a standard-sized concierge room. I know what has been in the past, but this is for March, 2007, and they seem to think things might be changing around that time. I was told to call back in a few months and see what is up with the rooms. Thanks to all who helped me -- I was really confused and worried that CRO booked us with a savannah room, but a deluxe savannah room is about 50 dollars less than the room we booked. I will be calling them to follow up on this, since this is the first I have heard of this room category.

If it is any reassurance we stayed AKL 5th floor for Concerirge, it was def a deluxe room!

There is hardly any difference between the standard and deluxe rooms anyway, you wouldn't even notice the size difference. There is different coloured bedding and a make up mirror and they are on the upper floors.
