AKL Concierge Questions

After reading all of these terrific threads about AKL, I think I've decided on AKL Concierge for the last 3 nights of our trip!

Are the non-smoking Savannah rooms spread throughout the whole 5th floor? My girls would love to see lots of giraffe's, what view would you suggest I request?

When you stay concierge, I believe that the non-smoking rooms are savannah view and the smoking rooms are pool view.

Good choice.

Are you going to go on the sunrise safari?

We stayed at AKL concierge non-smoking/5th floor and we had a great view of giraffes from the Kudo trail.

Your girls will have the best time!

vb - Yes, we do plan to do the sunrise safari. Did you enjoy it?


Cass - are the giraffe's only on the Kudo trail? Your website is great! I love all the pictures!

We stayed on the 5th floor Zebra Trail - awesome room, near the elevator to the pool, and the animals were right outside our room all the time. That said, the giraffe were the least visible - they stayed out a little further, and the trees often blocked our view of them. Sometimes they were closer, but not always. We had 3 zebra right outside all the time, as well as eland and wildebeest - the ankole cattle were also readily visible all the time, but a little further out - a good thing, as I hear their snores can be a little loud!

We loved the concierge lounge - be sure to visit during the appetizer/wine time. They even have fun toys etc. for the kids! Sunrise Safari was great - be hungry - the food at the buffet is simply marvelous!

Hi Taylor... no we saw giraffes on other savannas too... we explored the hotel and saw them off different wings on different savannas.. but I recommend the Kudo trail - as we really had a good view and enjoyed it.

What about the savannah view rooms on the 6th floor? I was hoping to be close to the lounge, and have a savannah view.

CRcrazy - Thanks for the information about your room. It sounds like you had a great location! I'm definitely looking foward to the breakfast after the safari! How far in advance can you book the Sunrise Safari?

tlhunter - From what I've read on these boards, it's my understanding that the 6th floor has the smoking-optional rooms and the suites. However, I'm not positive? I'm sure someone else will be able to answer your question . Have a great trip!

6th floor concierge savanna view.

I got to have a peek in one of these rooms when staying at AKL.

I was up in the lounge and I saw a couple check out - they had come out of the savanna view section on 6... the housekeeper was in the hall with her cart about to go in and service the room so I asked if I could have a look.

The room was identical to mine on the 5th floor... the balcony has a thatch roof over it with side panels... making it very cozy but blocking the view unless you go right to the railing.

When looking out - you see the savanna.. but below you are roof areas... not too pretty...but also not that bad.

I didn't see any animals as it was the time of day they are in the barns for feeding.

I think If I had a choice I would still stay on 5 because I enjoyed the walk to the lounge across the rope bridge. In fact I have requested the same room as last time for my stay in August.

I think it is 90 days. I just booked it for the end of March!

Would you take the room on the 6th floor you saw. Is being close to the lounge important? We are traveling with four kids. Two are under three. I was hoping to let the older two (13,9) go to the lounge with out us. Were the rooms any bigger on the 6th
