AKL Booking Question

We are planning a family trip at AKL Kidani in 2025. My family will be using DVC points to book a 1 BR standard view. My sister's family is planning on renting points and would like a studio, savannah view. My question is...is it possible to somehow request our rooms be close to each other once we have booked and have confirmation numbers? How would we go about doing that? I know AKL is huge, and don't want the risk of our rooms being a 20 minute walk from the opposite side of the resort. Thanks for your advice!

You might want to ask this over on the DVC boards. I think there is a phrase you can use if you call DVC Member Services and give them both reservation numbers. Maybe "travelling with." But I think the owner from whom your sister is renting points also would have to contact DVC Member Services and do the same. Maybe this can be done through the chat on the DVC Member website.

I don't know Kidanii well enough to know if it is physically possible for the rooms to be near each other, given that you are booking different views. You could look at Touring Plans to try to figure that out.

It is best to have the note “traveling with” on both reservations with the ressie number if you have it. Shouldn’t be an issue to have the person she is renting points from do it… an owner would probably be able to do it through chat or email

Edited to add: just noticed you have 2 different views. That is critical. Typically standards are closer to the lobby and savanna’s can be a mile away down the long corridors of doom! I would still make sure the notes there but realistically you may be further apart than you might like.

Consider a 2 bedroom lock off = 1 bedroom + 1 studio that are adjoining. This should be fewer points that separately booking a studio & a 1 bedroom. Maybe you could have them rent points to transfer to your account so you could book the 2 bedroom to ensure rooms are together. But you will need to have the same views for this.

This.

I just looked at a couple of random weeks in 2024 and the combined points price of a Savannah 2BR comes out to be within 10 points of a Standard 1BR + a Savannah Studio. I would look into buying a POINT TRANSFER of the difference between the 1BR and the 2BR and have your sister pay for it. I would kick in some $$ if the difference is more than the cost of a studio to make it fair. Then, you'll have a 2BR together and you get a view upgrade. Your sister also has skin in the game because she paid for the point transfer and you won't get caught holding the bag if she backs out.
