We are planning an entire day to hang out at the AKL and enjoy the scenery. On our last trip, we were so busy that we didn't take time to enjoy the atmosphere.

What time are the animals off display? I think I've read that the animals are taken in for vet. care in the afternoons. Times?
Thanks.

I believe that they rotate the different savannahs, so that there are always animals out in at least one location. Anyone else know for sure??

I love AKL!

We had another delicious dinner at Boma's earlier this week. I stopped by the front desk & asked for info about events that take place at the AKL. The info was on the back of the AKL map. Be sure to take some time to do things which are only available at AKL. Have fun!

Man, I can't believe I never looked at the back of the map! I just dug my old one out, and it included:

Cookie decorating at Boma
Pelican feeding at Arusha Rock
Lodge Tour
Junior Researcher
Rec Activities
Storytelling
Games w/Savannah Guides
Cultural Safari
Track the Animals
Flamingo Feedings
Poolside Activities

I hope I get to go back some day when I have time to just explore the resort. :bounce:

I didn't see all the activities on my map until I got back also.
Oh well, something to try next time.

I believe the animals are off the savannah from like 12-2 or 2-4. They do rotate them off one savannah at a time so you will always be able to see them on the other ones.

Early morning and early evening were best viewing times for us.
I saw a giraffe one morning right in front of me while sitting in the hot tub. It was so cool!

Loved it there!!

The best time to see the animals is in the early morning and early evening. We had a view of Arusha Rock from our balcony. We checked in about 10 am and saw giraffes and zebras. All the kids (17, 15 & 6) thought it was really cool.

We went to the storytelling one evening, and the 6 year old loved it! There are several rocking chairs around the outside firepit - but get there early to grab one! The cultural safari was really fun, too.

We would definitely LOVE to go back!
