A friend of a friend was looking at staying at AKL but was worried they would need 2 rooms for her party of 6, which would put it out of their budget. However, I just realized that her youngest is under 2, and therefore doesn't "count" by Disney standards. Should I suggest they book just one room at AKL, or will they be too cramped to enjoy it? The travelling party is husband, wife, wife's mom, and 3 boys ages 1, 3, and 5.

I'm hoping for her sake that this will work out because they are looking at going during the free dining offer time period. She's currently leaning toward off-site, but if they can survive being in one room at AKL I think they'll save a bunch of money!

I'll be staying at CR Tower in one room with 5 + infant(2yrs) We also stayed at Poly and it was fine.2 rooms would be too much room for those ages and she might as well only pay for one room while she still can(that's my theory anyway) :)

They'll have to stay in in one of the deluxe rooms, the standard rooms don't sleep 5. Even during value season a deluxe pool view room is $285.

Two rooms in a value resort would be cheaper and two rooms in a moderate might be about the same.

They'll have to pay the extra $25 for the third adult in the room, the rate goes up to $310 and two moderate rooms will be cheaper.

If it was me, i would rather get 2 rooms at a moderate, than being 6 people in 1 room at a deluxe. I guess it dosnt bother you to stay in the same room with your mother, but i wouldnt like it if it was me going 3 adults and 3 boys.

Unless they go with a Deluxe bunk bed savannah view room or concierge they will not be able to stay at this resort as their standard rooms sleep a maximum of 4 plus one child under 3

OMG I can't believe I didn't catch this(the mil coming)that changes my answer to the OP definitely 2 rooms!

We (2 adult 2 children 10 & 12) stayed at AKL 7/04 in a savannah view room, and I thought that was tight. With small children I think I would get 2 connecting rooms at a value or moderate if money is an issue. Have a great time no matter where you stay. :wizard:

We stayed 5 in a standard savanna view in May. Our 12 yo ds slept in the bottom bunk and our 4 yo ds and 2.5 yo dd slept in the top bunk. We had PLENTY of room. However, I don't know that it would be worth the additional expense to have 6. Also, one would presumably be sleeping on the sofa. I don't know how comfortable that would be. Fine for a child, I'm sure.

I would contact Disney or AAA with the question of where you can stay. I would suggest staying at the Fort Wilderness cabins but Disney can tell you clearly what accomodations they will allow you to get with your party. The only information you will get here is that you aren't allowed to have X number of people in a given room. Disney may choose to disagree with the posters on this board about how many people in a given accomodation. The main question here is will Disney give you room keys/passes for everyone who needs one.

PS. 3 adults and a passel of kids in one room is just too much for more than two nights.

AKL rooms aren't very big. I'd go offsite with that many people. They could get a nice condo offsite for less than price of one room at AKL. :confused3

To save your sanity get two rooms. I would rather get two rooms at a value or mod then cram 6 people into one hotel room. Two bathrooms, tvs, extra beds will be life saving come trip time.

While I LOVE AKL, in this case I'd say go with two rooms at a value and save the money. Get connecting rooms and you might even be able to get a night alone with grandma watching the kids! Two television sets, two bathrooms, and four beds just make a lot more sense.

I think it all depends on how well do they usually get along. If they always fight or bicker, then putting them into a confined space will make it worse. If they usually get along, then there shouldn't be as much problems.

However, finding the bathroom when it is free could become a problem. Especially when everyone is trying to get ready in the morning.

We just stayed in a bunk bed deluxe room and while there is enough bed space for everyone, it would be cramped. Also, the deluxe rooms are well over $400/night. You could get two mod's or two value rooms for that price. The bed set up would be that mom/dad get the queen bed, grandma either on the bottom bunk or the daybed, the older child in the top bunk and two kids in another bed unless you use the port-a crib, then you have no extra floor space.
