AKL 2br December 18-23 - Don't close til Mid August

I'm wanting to book a 2br at AKL for December 18th through the 23rd (preferably value) but my resale won't close until mid-August. I looked at the availability forum on disboards and none of my dates are listed which I think is good. I'm wondering if that listing is totally complete though. Thoughts on whether i'll get my dates or not?

The list is most likely NOT complete. I know that I never use it. I'd be surprised if all of those dates are available in December at this point.

The listing is generally accurate to show a date is in fact closed out but cannot be relied on to show open dates. It depends on members on these boards (who make up only a minority of all members) to report closed dates and not even all the members on these boards report closed dates when they learn of them.

That time in December is high demand time for DVC (for everything, and value rooms are scarce to begin with). You may get lucky but do not assume your chances are good.

I would say that you pretty much have zero percent chance of getting a 2BR Value for those dates. Anything can happen, but be happy if you can get ANY resort that close to Christmas

I doubt if you will be able to get into AKV at all. It has been pretty sold out since Kidani opened and most likely there is a long waitlist by now. All points are in play right now, even the GCH points can be used for WDW stays in December so everyone closing before you or buying direct will have the advantage.

Resales are great bargains, but the delay in getting points can affect short term bookings.

I would definitely be more flexible and hope to get a reservation anywhere.

Plan on using your points for Christmas 2010 instead of Christmas 2009, because nothing is going to be available by the time you close.

I would think that you would need to book exactly 11 months, to the date, to get such a reservation. I have never been at Christmas time but have been in the first 2 weeks in December which is a very high demand time for DVC and even then booking at 11 months was required.
