Thinking about switching from two connecting rooms for our family of six to a one bedroom suite at AKL. Is there a queen/bunk configuration (3 boys-one girl) available in the one bedroom suites? Also, which trail is your favorite suite down?

Soccer Mom, I don't know what the maximum occupancy rating was for the one-bedroom suite that I stayed in at the AKL since there were only 4 people in my party, but I'm sure a simple phone call to Disney can tell you if the AKL has any suites that comfortably sleep six people. My suite had two queen-sized beds in the master bedroom and a sofa sleeper in the parlor room (I put my parents in the master bedroom and my young daughter & I shared the sofa sleeper in the parlor room).

We just rebooked a 1-bedroom suite at AKL. We loved it!

All are the same: 2 queen beds in the bedroom with a queen sleeper sofa in the living room (6 guest occupancy with 2 people in each bed). There is a large master bath with a huge shower, soaking tub, double vanity, and separate toilet. The other bathroom is just a powder room with sink and toilet. The minibar area has a microwave, coffee maker, fridge, and sink. The dining table seats 4. There are TVs in the living room and the bedroom. There was also a DVD player. We were on the Kudu Trail, Sunset Savannah, 3rd floor. The views were great!

Like I said, we loved it. Enjoy! :sunny:

what is the cost on the suites....can you get an AP rate on them.

Soccer Mom--you have peaked my curiousity..and of course WDW is closed now... :badpc:

anyone know ??

AKL 1-Bedroom Suite value $640 regular $715 peek $820 holiday $905 (per night)

per www.wdwig.com

You can get a much better deal by renting points from someone on the DVC rental board and staying at a DVC property - I got a two bedroom with full kitchen, two baths and jacuzzi (sp?), living area with sofa bed and much more for about $980 for FOUR nights total. Just make sure you get references from your DVC owner and write up a "contract" of sorts.

To my knowledge, suites don't normally get AP discounts.

One thing I forgot to mention was that the room comes with concierge service. We're a family of 3 and loved going there for breakfast (muffins, pastries, cereal, jucie, coffee, milk, etc.), snacks and drinks, evening appetizers, and after dinner desserts, coffees, wine, beer, and cordials. A family of 6 would definitely benefit.

Metta4, you can find out pricing information for rooms in WDW resorts by going to the official website. For example, click here to see pricing information for the AKL Resort. As far as discounts go, in all my WDW suite stays, I have always been told that suites are never discounted (and that has been my experience).

Soccer mom, I have photos of two of the suites that I have stayed in at the AKL:
AKL 1-Bedroom Suite (Parlor Room)
AKL 1-Bedroom Suite (Master Bedroom)
AKL 2-Bedroom Suite (Parlor Room)
AKL 2-Bedroom Suite (Master Bedroom)
AKL 2-Bedroom Suite (Second Bedroom)

The 2-bedroom suite was on the 5th floor, while the 1-bedroom suite was on the 3rd floor. The only real difference between the suites was the number of rooms. Both suites were lovely (sadly, my photos never do anything at WDW justice).

PLEASE don't give out FALSE information!!!!!!

They ARE NOT all the same!!!

There are two different floor plans, and of those, there are two different configurations of beds.

One has a king bed in the bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. (I've stayed in that one, so I can absolutely verify it exists, and it's NOT two queens!!!! Photo's on my web site, link in sig below.) That one ONLY SLEEPS FOUR!

The other is as you described with two queens in the MBR and a queen sleeper in the living room.

I was under the impression that all 1 brm suites in Disney have a 4 pp max.

No, at the AKL the suites with two queens in the bedroom sleep six.

The 1BR DVC villas only sleep four, maybe this is what youa re thinking of. They aren't considered "suites" but HAFH options.

I certainly was not trying to give out false information. I just booked my return trip to a AKL with a 1-bedroom suite three days ago. I asked for a king bed layout and the CM told me that all 1-bedroom suites had 2 queen beds in the bedroom. Sorry to pass on bad information, but since it was coming directly from Disney, I believed it to be true.

I just called CRO again. They double checked and told me that the one bedroom suite is not offered with a king size bed. I'm going to confirm this directly with the concierge team at AKL. Who knows, maybe they've changed the layouts recently?

I think this is another case of poor training or information supplied to CRO.

Sorry Ducklite . . . No King Bed 1-Bedroom Suites. Here's a reply I just recieved from AKL Concierge. Glad to know I didn't "give out false information."

FYI: The AKL concierge staff is truly amazing. They responded to my e-mail in less than an hour! They make visiting WDW relaxing and easy. What professionals! :)

From AKL concierge staff:
"Good afternoon~

It is wonderful that you will be returning to us in December. We look forward to planning a magical vacation with us during the holiday season! In regards to your question regarding the one bedroom suite, unfortunately, our one bedroom suites do not have a king-bed option and only come with two queen beds in the master bedroom.

I hope this helps a bit and I apologize for the miscommunication. As always, if there is any assistance you may need, please do not hesitate to contact us! I look forward to speaking to you in the near future!

Baie Dankie (Thank you very much) and have a Magical day!"

Then this must have changed very recently--OR they have you blocked for the "other " style of 1BR suite. LIke I said, there are two styles. one is a dedicated 1BR. The other has a lockoff that can change to a 2BR. This is what we were in, and it had a king bed.

It would be very disappointing and rather ridiculous for them to no longer offer king beds in the suites.

Where are the 1 bedroom suites located at AKL, are they far away from the lobby? Does anyone know room numbers for the suites? Thanks.

We were on the third floo as far from the lobby as it gets. Very quiet though :)

My had two 1-bdrm suites on our last stay. They were right on top of each other: 3285 and 4285. They're located on a wing that juts out into the Sunset Savannah. The views were great. We especially liked 3285 because it was on the same level as the lobby -- no elevators needed unless we were going to the concierge lounge. :)
