Akershush (not PPO) worth it

Is an Akershush breakfast worth it if a) its on an extra magic hours day and b)we already have CRT.
We were going to try to get Akershush at 8 but I noticed that its (currently) an extra magic hours morning at Epcot. Would it be worth it (assuming we get it)? If its EMH we lose the benefit of being ahead of the crows for the Frozen ride. If it does stay an EMH we could just cancel when we get closer (in case the schedule changes).

No reason the EMH wouldn't remain. You can cancel up until the day before with no penalty.



Really only you can determine whether the breakfast or Frozen is more important to you.

I don't think there's a reason to do both CRT and Akershus. I wouldn't want to get up and out that early only to spend the first hour of park time eating. Spend the first hour or two on rides and then schedule a later breakfast for 10 instead. Rope drop time is too valuable.

Yeah, I would pick just one princess meal. We enjoyed Akershus, but it does take some time to get all the princesses to your table. I would personally do CRT and Frozen.

EMH typically stay on the dates they are originally planned. Don't expect that to change. Akershus is nice, but if you want to eat there I'd schedule it for later in the morning rather than PPO, since you're going on a day with EMH.

I wouldn't choose a restaurant only to get PPO. Choose a restaurant because you want to eat there. (just my opinion). I LOVE Akershus. My husband loves their lunch/dinner food. So to us, it's worth eating there, but we don't do it to get PPO. Look at the menu and choose based on that and the Princess experience. I've learned that when you try to make dining reservations based on getting into a park early, there is typically some sort of disappointment.

I'm not an Akershus breakfast person. Now, lunch and dinner? Oh yeah. Breakfast, though, is nothing all that special to me. I'd do it to meet the princesses, but since you already have CRT for that, I wouldn't do Akersus for breakfast, as well. Plus, if it is an EMH morning, you would be wasting prime ride time in the restaurant and get out in time for the lines to be long. If EMH get changed, there is still the chance that you won't be out of there in time to beat the crowds to the line. When we were at Boardwalk last Deceember, they let us in International Gateway at 8:45. We have taken over an hour at Akershus before and if they don't get you in right at 8 but instead closer to 8:15 or 8:30, you won't beat people to the front of the line for Frozen, most likely. So, in order to have the advantage, you would be banking on them cancelling EMH, not letting people in the park 15 or so minutes early, and Akershus getting you in right at your reservation time and not late. Not something I'd chance.

Personally, and I may get a lot of flack for this, I prefer Akershus to CRT. The interaction is better and I love the princess parade. I also really enjoy the food, but I've only eaten at dinner time there (and CRT, we aren't big breakfast people).

To be fair, CRT is gorgeous though, and there is something just remarkably special about eating in the castle and looking out and seeing all the families having fun. Plus the wishing ceremony is special too.

I wouldn't do a PPO just to do a PPO anymore, especially since they've changed the opening policies in MK and if you have EMH at Epcot. You may miss your chance to ride Frozen.

For what it's worth, I am right there with you in liking Akershus more than CRT. I agree that the princess interaction is better and preferred the service. The food is good at both, but who can argue with those Norwegian meatballs? YUM!

In 2014 they had this braised beef with blueberry gastrique served over asparagus and some kind of potato casserole with cream cheese.

I had morning sickness and was worried I wouldn't be able to eat anything. OH MY GOODNESS, that was so delicious. I'm salavating thonking about it. It was heavenly!

Epcot has had EMH on Thursdays for as long as I can remember. I wouldn't bet on it changing.

That said - Akershus has been our worst character meal (even behind Chef Mickey). We went for breakfast. There were only 3 princesses - Ariel, Snow White and Belle (who spent all of her time with us complaining to her handler about her dress). The food was - meh. The potato dish is good. Dunkin Munchkins are there - but it's kind of pricey for that. The room isn't particularly pretty. I think that CRT clobbers Akershus.

We had CRT for dinner and the food was meh, and the princesses seemed a little rushed. It was my dd actually 6th bday so to say we had dinner with princesses in the castle made only the meh worth it. This time we are only doing ak for breakfast. We loved the breakfast there last time and the princesses seemed to stay longer. If it were me I would just chose one unless. I think CRT is one of those Disney bucket lists items you have to do once in your life.
