Hello all! We will be at WDW for Spring Break this year! My boys are 14,16,18. We like character meals and we like buffets, so I was looking at Akershus for dinner. I try to keep all of our meals in the parks, so we don't lose as much time from touring. Because of that, we have been to most of the character meals in the parks.

I just figured out that it is not a buffet, but more of a salad bar plus an ordered entree, that is still appealing.

Would it be awkward to bring 3 big boys to this meal? I've asked them and they seem up for it.

Also, if you wanted to watch Illuminations at 9, what time would you schedule this dinner for?

Thanks!

Hi :) I don't have an answer for you but I did ask a similar question regarding 1900 Park Fair, I love the step sisters and Cindy but was not sure if my 3 boys 14, 14 & 10 would find it awkward.
When we went to Epcot we went to Garden Grill it was family style with Mickey, Chip/Dale, Pluto and they LoVEd it!!
I say go for Akershus, it looks good and I'm sure your boys will get some cute attention and great photos! Let me know what you do :)

If your sons are o.k. with then go for it! My 16 year old would say absolutely not!

They'll love Jasmine....

OP here with a follow up... Will we be the only family there without little kids? Do adults eat here?

've asked them and they seem up for it.

There's your answer then!

I have a feeling that many teenage boys would be interested in going to a meal where pretty young women dressed as princesses will be fawning over them. :3dglasses

There are plenty of families with older kids and families without kids at all character meals. Don't worry about it.

We are going and ds12 seems fine with it - of course I have a dd9 ad well. Outt of all the character meals ds has always liked CRT.

If your teens are up for it, then you should go! We have three boys - two teens and a 6-year-old. I'm not a princess fan, but our youngest went through a princess stage a couple years ago, and we've run into princesses at other character meals and on our DCL cruises. I wouldn't say the princesses pay much attention to our teens - the princesses seem good at gauging interest and taking it from there. So they certainly don't make it uncomfortable for our teens, or even interact with our teens much beyond "hello," take a photo and move on. When our 6-year-old was four and loved princesses, and it showed, the princesses at Akershus were WONDERFUL with him. They really spent a lot of time with him under those circumstances. So we've seen different kinds of interactions - those princesses always seem figure it out quickly and act accordingly!

My then teen boys and husband loved Akershus! They were thrilled to have their pictures taken with the pretty girls and the girls really acted up for them. It was really fun! If your boys are up for it, I would absolutely go!

Your teenage boys are only pretending that they are doing you the favor. Trust me on this, I have done the research.

I suspect that teen boys might hate Akershus even worse than we did when we went there.

Not worth the time to even try it again at our house. Bad experience.

The princess interaction really shouldn't be your concern. When we went there, they basically just stopped long enough to snap a pic and moved right along. The food is what you should be concerned about. It's terrible. And not a lot of choice for people who don't have very adventurous tastes. We had a group of about 15. Between us, we had every meal. Most of us tried them all. And no one liked anything. And I'm not a picky eater.
