I need to make my reservations next week for our January vacation and I need help choosing which Princess experience for my princess loving 4yo. This will be our first Disney vacation and my husband says our last! CRT has been a priority to me but I also like the idea of doing breakfast at Akershus to get to Frozen Ever After first thing. Plus I was thinking of also doing Hoop Dee Doo but I don't think I want to do 2 - 2 table credit meals. Id like to try to stay within the limits of the dining plan. Would you choose CRT or Hoop Dee Doo and Akershus? Arevyou able to go in and see the castle even if you don't eat there? Thanks in advance.

You cannot see CRT without eating there.

From our experience a few years ago, the food and service at the castle were far, far below average. The princesses at Akershus were also more personable. It would be an easy choice for us to pass on the castle. If you want to eat inside a castle, get lunch at Be Our Guest.

There is nothing great about eating in the castle, IMO, other than knowing you're "in the castle". Being inside, You could be in any restaurant anywhere.

Even though we haven't done either of them yet, I have done tons of research of CRT and Akershus. We are actually in the same situation, first time WDW trip in the end of Jan. Akershus has more positive reviews of food and princesses interactions, the proximity to FEA is a must consideration for Frozen lovers. As of CRT, depends on what you are expecting. Great food, maybe not a good place to go, princesses experience in general, akershus has the edge. I think the whole royal feeling is something you can have at CRT only. To us, our little princesses are the main reason to do this whole trip. They won't care the food quality. All they care about is the experience. From the reviews, when you get there, you will have a one one one time with Cinderella, and go through a staircase to enter the castle, aka, the dining area. So depends on how do you want to spoil your little princess. In our situation, we dicide to do it. I know we are paying for the experience, we set our expectations for food really low so we won't be disappointed then.

Having said that, all the assumptions are from the reviews. I encourage you to check out the reviews including YouTubes. It might help you make your decision.

Have a magical trip!

I completely agree with this. Akershus is a castle, although not in the Cinderella/Belle sense. CRT was a one and DONE for us - it wasn't worth 2 credits to me, the food wasn't very good, and the princess interaction was mediocre. Akershus was a lot more fun, better food, better princess interaction, and one credit.

We've eaten all 3 meals at CRT and Akershus. We prefer CRT for breakfast and Akershus for lunch and dinner; however, I know several people who are the polar opposite. For me, even if the lunch and dinner food isn't my fave, I think it's a must do to be in the castle at least once. This is all opinion and plenty of people say afterwards they wish they saved the $ and just did Akershus, but I think this is one of those things that requires first hand experience. As one of my friends puts it, it has that "missed the prom" feeling if you don't try for yourself. Personally, we find signature meals make more sense to be paid OOP unless you're on the deluxe plan, so if it's a credit matter, you might look at the budget to see what you can do.
